The TurboGrafx-CD/PC Engine CD received a port of the original Street Fighter, titled Fighting Street, which was released in 1988 in Japan and 1989 in North America. Street Fighter II' (Champion Edition) was also released on the PC Engine, exclusively in Japan on June 12, 1993. What do you guys think of these ports?

This is a rare original Street Fighter thread too, but, alas, I have nothing to say. Just because it's sooo bad on its own.
Both are great ports.
Street Fighter 1 is garbage though, and a port of a terrible game is still a terrible game.
Fighting Street is a great port for the time. The main difference visually is that sky artwork was changed to simple gradients to squeeze the fights into 1/2 meg of space. The soundtrack is very well done and worth buying the game for. The Turbo version retains the Japanese voices for the special moves, instead of "Street Fighter!", like the English arcade version. The gameplay wasn't too good in the first place, with the pressure sensitive giant "pound me" buttons. I would have preferred an option to configure the buttons in the Turbo/PCE version to specific levels, instead of the timed button presses.
Champion Edition is my favorite version of SFII and I got the PCE version shortly after it came out, months before the SNES and Genesis versions hit. There are many details that make it either more arcade faithful or simplify better feeling than the Genesis and SNES ports. The music fading in and out correctly and the lack of that terrible crowd cheering is a big deal to me. The PCE port has my favorite composition of the SFII soundtrack, but the sounds used are pretty plain by PCE standards. Not bad at all, just not special overall. It was so cool being able to play it on my Turbo Express bitd. By the time the Nomad came out, the Genesis was being phased out. I still had lots of fun playing SSFII on my Nomad though, but it didn't have the same impact as playing SFII' anywhere, any time, back when people were using Game Genie codes to play as glitched boss sprites in SNES WW. It's a quick port meant to cash in on the SFII' craze before it became outdated, but it turned amazing well under the circumstances. It would have been nice if the developer had bothered to incorporate at least some of the missing parallax or colored Ryu's stage sky better. The 2-button control scheme is genius and I quickly learned to play just as fast switching between punches and kicks as though I was playing the SNES version.
SF2 CE for the PC Engine also has the best sound effects out of all 16-bit home console ports, only being beaten by the Sharp X68000 version in that area if we take into account home computers.
Quit, making threads that already been talked about
Fighting Street was a great port of a mediocre game. Even though it added new content, such as a cheat menu and an additional end cutscene, the control is less responsive than the arcade version. The music is excellent in the TurboGrafx-CD port.
Street Fighter II' on the PC Engine was a great port, although I do prefer the Mega Drive version of SFII': SCE over it. The PC Engine version looks great (in some cases, the color palette is better than the Mega Drive version) although the sound quality, at least for the sound effects, seems to be lacking a bit. The voices sound more clear than the voices in the Mega Drive port, although they aren't quite up to par with the SNES version of SFIIT: HF. The game play is great and the control is very responsive.

I get it - you're a 90's fighting game fan, but you don't need to create a thread for every thought that comes into your head. You're clogging up the forums with redundant threads; there's absolutely no need for a separate thread for each iteration of a fighting game for every system out there. Create a generic thread for said game (hell, said genre/system), and leave it at that. This is ridiculous.
My first exposure to Street Figther, was in the form of the ugly, poorly made Dos port.

Even hardcore Amiga fans think the Street Fighter games for the Amiga suck.
I'm pretty sure Lightshock Software made Fighting Spirit just because they were disgusted with the Street Fighter ports.
