I didnt try these games until they got to consoles and I found them boring and not that fun. Seems you had to put a lot of work and effort into them to get enjoyment from them and I wasnt willing to do that. What say you ?

The console versions are more limited and toned down than the PC versions. Sims is an absolutely hilarious and fun way to waste some time when you're bored. It's rather enjoyable to play God and torment all the people in your town.
For example in Sims 3 there was this really bitchy NPC in the town who was rich. I didn't like her so I did a few things to make her entire life fall apart. The result was she went insane and ran around town in a sweatsuit eating food left over from other people's picnics.
If there is ever a thread about games/series/franchises that should have stayed pc only then this one is at the top of the list.
The only "Sims" games I ever had any fun with here the MySims games.
Yeah, the console Sims are crap.
They're just not your cup of tea. They're not mine, either, but I can see the quality in the titles. It's the same sort of enjoyment that someone gets out of maintaining a bonzai tree.
When I was younger, I must have sunk thousands of hours into the original Sim City, though. I've never gotten into another sim game quite like that - not even Sim City 2000. I had a huge city I had built up - like 5 or 6 million people. And I ran it well. The joy that comes with being able to spend a few minutes maintaining something of that scale is undoubtedly what people get out of the Sims. It's a great feeling.
But again, the game just isn't for me.
I've been watching Amy play Mysims Agents, it looks like a lot of fun.
I don't see the appeal in the current Sims games, but my wife and kids play them. Wife is currently into Sims 2 and the kids are into the Sims Animals (wii). The only Sim game I liked was SimCity on SNES!
I hate the Sims with a passion, they are POS when compared to Sim City 2000, but we are never gonna see another sim city game, because they dropped them, to make the sims(a sim city game requires a hell of a lot more effort, so if they can make plent of money from subpar crap like the sims, why bother making a sim city game).
Sims and SimCity are completely different kinds of games. To compare them and whine about one over the other is just stupid. It's like comparing Thunder Force to Sonic.
Doesn't change the fact they decided to put a end to the Sim City franchise, to only make the Sims from now on.
I wouldn't call them completely different, in truth It's still more or less the same genre(they basically took the sim city concept, and flipped it around, intead of the large scale city management, now It's about micro management, as in people lives, and such, so while they have very differant playstyle, the games can still be compared to one another).
Sims games (whether "The Sims" or other simulation games like SimCity) are games where you get to be God in a contained part of the "world". Playing God is quite fun. Sometimes I threw my Sims in a enclosed room with lots of food but no toilet, just to see them piss themselves. Makes you think... If there's really a higher power from whose image we were conceived, games like these really help to explain a lot of the stuff he/she does.
I find that cleaning my room and organizing many collections is much more pleasing than this so called "game".
I used to enjoying playing PC version for full day until I realize that I really don't need it to play it in first place after all because I have a real life instead!
