It's time to liberate the internet, or create a "shadow" net. Rules to govern more subversive aspects of human behaviour (child porn, IOW) are okay, but it all goes to hell when big corporations decide to dick their way into legislation with their lobbying scum.

I can't decide if this bill is the "slippery slope" to our freedoms that people like to make it out to be. If foreign sites can't manage even a basic level of integrity I don't want to go to them in the first place. And no, I don't think I'm going to have to take down all of my gameplay videos because of this bill, if that happens I'm going to start investing in guns.
the point is, corporate rules America, and in turn the world. nobody directly elected a corporation to run their lives, despite lacklustre consumer awareness. I think this illustration is apt for the discussion.

is it a slippery slope? the net is increasingly important in daily lives, and one has to look at the mess at the FDA, banking, pensions et al to note that it's not ultimately in the interest of the "common man". if history taught us anything, it's that unchecked power begets abuse.

For real? :mad: It won't pass, but if it did, kiss goodbye to the internet as you know it - any site deemed containing any form of "copyright" (as little as say, an image) can be reported and taken offline. This isn't to fight piracy, it's to give Corporations even more dosh and power. Oh yeah, "Don't drop the SOPA" ;).
