How successful do you think the Wii U will be ?

When I was selling nintendo games and genesis games, snes and n64 games really do sell like hotcakes while genesis games just sit there no one wants it. I really hate it when people's face act like "screw sega, I wanna me some nintendo games" crap. I sold only one CIB genesis games out of over 50 non-sport games at yard sale about five years. There are just way too much loyal nintendo gamers who is looking for nintendo games.

Silly thing that many retro gamers choose goodwill over yard sales, sega games came in one day, gone next day.

I think it will be awesome, even more successful then the wii, as it has a more ore less traditional controller as the stock controller, motion control is still a option (due to comple BC with the wii), but It's not the main focus of the WiiU, and the stock controller comes with extra features, that is kind've hard to abuse, unlike Wii's motion control which can be overused(not to mention some genres, and motion control don't go good together to beginwith).

All roads lead to piles of Gold for Nintendo, and it soulds like virtually every game developer is in love with the wiiU, so not having 3rd party support wont be an issue.

I prefer the controller over the Wii. I don't think it's going to be as gimmicky as the Wii, as most of the gimmickry will be aimed at apps for the controller itself, not the actual games built for the Wii U. I can already see a next generation Super Game Boy/Game Boy Player in the vein of DS (and even 3DS) titles. I'm excited; but then again, so was I about the 3DS. I personally don't own any HD console just yet, so anything's up for grabs by then.

I guess it will all come down to the line-up of titles we'll be seeing around launch.

Um, did you ever stop to think, perhaps the Nintendo counter parts were just far better. Unless you're selling a Shining Force 2 game, Nintendo systems had much better counter parts for the Sega systems of the time.

^ Silly trolling is still silly. When I can't sell Streets of Rage 2 or Toejam & Earl as fast as any generic NES, SNES or N64 third party title something has gone horribly wrong.

Well the problem for me is getting up on time for yard sales on my rest days. :(

I rather play double Dragon 2, the port of the arcade TMNT, Indiana Jones greatest adventures, exc then the overrated SoR franchise, and Toejam & Earl, thank you very much.

To Black_Tiger: Lol what do tell gives you that idea, if anyone is running the risk of such, It's Sony, not Nintendo(if the PS4 Isn't the greatest console ever, I really don't see Sony staying afloat, infact they barely have enough resources to even produce another console, that's how much trouble they are in).

I stand by my statement.

History has proven in every entertainment medium that sales/popularity are not indicative of quality yet I see people use that as reasoning to say Nintendo is better than Sega all the time.

As for the Wii U, it's too early to tell but I imagine it will end up being successful. Nintendo seems to be able to survive on their big name first-party titles.

Nintendo continues to stay in the public eye as a hardware provider and software developer, that's the only reason they continue to have the following that they do for their retro games. Think about it, if you've got systems coming out over multiple time spans then you'll always have some group that has nostalgia goggles for the systems they "grew up with".

Most Sega hardware is losing that refresh of the collective memory since all they do is put out new games and rape Sonic every couple years (hyperbole, but I did enjoy Sonic Unleashed). Thus the old Sega hardware doesn't get the new publicity because there's no new hardware from them to make you reminisce about the old stuff.

This is just my opinion of the matter, but both the Genesis and SNES have great games on them, the SNES just gets more publicity since Nintendo stays in the news more. That's fine by me though, keep my Genesis games cheap so I don't have to worry about new retro collectors every 5 years.

People said the same thing about the N64, Gamecube, and Wii. That said, I'm no fan of the WiiU. Will it be successful? Can't say. I thought the 3DS was going to be an epic flop, and now the thing has sold over four million units.

Maybe the extremely young or extremely old (i.e. the expanded segment that the wii pandered to). I'd say today, the most casual gamer will be more inclined to call video games in general, "xbox" or "playstation."

the 18-24 year old male demographic likely does not say first and foremost "I want a nintendo"

It's been a taboo subject to suggest for years, but, since Sega exited the hardware biz, I've been longing for a single-console standard. Basically, the 3DO Player model, only with today's technology at an affordable price.

A good majority of the Xbox and PS3 and PC's market is cross platform already. The main distinction between consoles today are a handful of exclusives, and increasingly symmetrical online strategies. Imagine a console standard, where the best of every current console is culled together, with every game being available to every "gamer" regardless of hardware purchased.
