It's just electrolytic capacitors though. Electrolytic Capacitors are the Achilles heel of modern electronics. Everything else should last for quite a long time, possibly even 100's of years. And replacing the Capacitors isn't that big of a deal really. If people can replace them in Amps that use 1000's of them, I fail to see why it's so hard to replace them in consoles that use maybe 50 at most. And when you replace them your good for probably another 15-20 years.

The problem with emulation is that it's still not accurate. In many cases it's not even close to being accurate.

If they have such a short lifespan, why do they use them?

Because there's nothing that does the job an electrolytic capacitor does for the same cost and size.

Additionally, 20 years is not a short life time.

Plus I've got a couple of systems that are over 30 years old and are still working fine on their original caps.

If we ever have a thread for best looking/"sexiest" handheld then I vote for the GPX2, the black or white one.

I believe the PS3 uses solid state capacitors. I don't recall seeing any old can capacitors on the PS3 I repaired last year.
