Hi all,

I felt bad not posting in here as much as I should after my ban was lifted so I'm going to share with you guys what I've been up to regarding my home arcade collection. As of right now I have 2 fully working arcade cabs and 1 pinball machines.

It looks great but I just purchased a "SFII Champ Edition" arcade cab for $100 and .....ummmm....I'm kind of at a loss of what to do with it or where to start and I need Sega-16's help. So, not only is this a modded cabinet have no resemblance to SFII at all but the PCB board is kind of screwed up. The video is all glitched on certain stages and the wiring needs work. Now i didn't rule out that its not the monitor or the wiring too the monitor but at this point I'm banking on the PCB board being screwed up.

Here's the question. Do I ditch the SFII PCB and make it into a multi-arcade with one of those new PCB boards which Ironically would have all the SF's on it or do I attempt to repair what I have already and make it into a professional SFII cab?

Wow, nice stuff Edge! I'm in the process of purchasing a Tempest arcade cabinet myself, I need to move it into my house now from it's resting place, a Church Attic. Can't wait to get it all cleaned up and start playing! :)

TX-Sector looks like a really cool pin judging from the Classic Game Room video of it. How much did it cost you?

As for the SFII cabinet, if the cabinet itself was originally a Street Fighter II, I'd dedicate it to what it originally was. I'm a purist myself, not a big fan of the MAME stuff. But if it's a plain old JAMMA cab then you can do what you want with it I guess. Is all the original artwork/marquee there?

I remember seeing a pic on a web page of someones arcade room. It was done up really nice to look like an authentic arcade, with the florescent lighting and lines painted on the floor with a retro sensibility. I've always felt that if I ever get an arcade room I would like it to look like that.

I'm with baloo on the SFII cab. Since it was just a board kit I wouldn't be too worried about just fixing it up with a multi arcade.

Hey buddy,

Sadly its nothing more than an old JAMMA cab with a poorly taped on SFII CHAMP EDITION marquee. The sides and front are all black and in need of a paint job, also the 6-buttons and joystick were installed by a novice. The right side looks fine but the left sides buttons are a little bit spaced out. I guess the dude that did it wasn't very skilled with the saw drill. I agree whole heartly by the way, if it was a dedicated SFII cab I'd definitely restore it to its former glory but since its just a black box with a bunch of after market electronics jammed into it I think I may have to resort to making it a fancy multi-arcade. Its not going to be mame though. I'm going to buy the Happy Fish 2 PCB Jamma board. Its a 302 games in one board so it will at least have a PCB in it instead of a PC hooked up to the monitor.

I know the room you're talking about, he built it into his basement. He took down the pics because he took them with his phone camera, and you could (and people did) find out where someone lives by looking at the exif data on the pics.

Iphone and android OS will include your location in the exif data if you don't have certain settings checked... I'm not too sure which settings off the top of my head, but I've seen it done (to myself, in fact). I posted a picture online, and the very next reply was my home address (as I took the picture in my house).

Definitely a scary moment.

good to know im trying to reverse geocode a picture now , to see how easy it can be done

ok, I decided to send you guys a video of me showing off my gameroom on my youtube account. Keep in mind the oration IS HORRIBLE. I don't do these "point video camera and talk shows at all" I usually just do voice recordings which in my opinion are equally terrible and I need many more times practicing it. Very cool! I'm also putting together a home arcade, though I'm in the very early stages. I have three upright machines in various states of repair (all projects):

1981 Taito Cab w/ Bloody Wolf PCB (bought for $75 picture is scrambled, need to recap the monitor)
Frogger upright (No PCB, had significant water damage, but at $10, I'm not complaining)
Williams Defender cab w/ Sega ESwat board (Only one which works & it was free)

At the moment, I'm preparing to convert the Frogger into a 60-in-1 & making the Defender a Multi-Williams. Once I have these three cabs together, I'd like to add a pinball machine and perhaps a vector game to my lineup.

With your question, I personally would be looking into a multi setup (as you might guess by my projects above. :D), but I'd likely try to sort out the wiring first. I have not looked into the multi boards w/ fighting games, so I'd probably poke around and make sure the emulation is good before making such a purchase.
