I noticed a whole bunch or graphical glitches when I played it, maybe emulation has improved since then.
Generally I've found Project Tempest to be pretty hit and miss at best, and even the hits tend to have minor issues

Yeah I could never get into AVP. I thought it was a great looking game for what it was at the time but it's so damn boring to play!
Doom on the other hand is much more fun! Doom on the Jag is pretty impressive and really under-rated when you consider one simple fact. It was the VERY FIRST version of Doom to ever be ported from PC to any home console. That alone says a lot for the Jag and its potential. Technically it plays much better at a bigger screen size and smoother frame rate than the 32X, 3DO and SNES (Super FX2 chip) versions that all came afterwards. It wasn't trumped until the PS1 version a year later and from what I've heard the PS1 version uses an engine based off the Jaguar version.
Not quite true... the Jaguar version was released on November 28, 1994, while the 32X version was released on November 21, 1994. The 32X version is not a port of the Jaguar version - they are in fact the SAME port worked on simultaneously; you can tell because the Jaguar Doom source has 32X checks in it. If the 32X was based on the Jaguar code, the Jaguar code would have no references to the 32X at all.
Damn I could have sworn the Jag version came first! I also guess it's a rumor that the 32X version is based on the Jag version.
The Jaguar Doom wiki says this about the Jaguar version...
"This version was the first official port of Doom to begin its development cycle, although the 32X version was released first. The 32X, 3DO, GBA and PlayStation ports are all derived from this port. "
So the 32X version was released first but they say the Jag began devlepment first. Either way I'm more surprised on the release dates. Like I said I was really certain the Jag version was the first one ever released.
Well... umm... GO SEGA! 32X WHOO!
I don't doubt it was the first started, but at some point, it and the 32X were clearly merged... probably to ease development. They probably also meant to release them at the same time, but I wish they had taken a few more weeks on the 32X to give more levels. From the Jaguar WAD saxman patched for the 32X, you can see that all but one level from the Jaguar runs on the 32X. They probably could have found the problem with that one level in a week or two and had all the same levels for the 32X as for the Jaguar. Basically, they rushed the 32X version a little too much. More levels and better music would have been worth an extra month, but they just had to make the main xmas shopping period.
