Sigh looks like I am missing out on another Factory sealed DW 3

I really hate VGA BS(some scumbag has had a VGA graded factory sealed DW 3 posted on ebay for almost a year(It's insanely priced at almost 3k). Now the problem is, anymore that enter the maket, leads sellers to base their price around the VGA BS(as It's the only other one on ebay).

It's a 600$(hell the last one to "actually" sell, sold for 560, and that wasn't all that long ago either) game tops, I raised my offer as high as 700, since I want it for my personal collection, not to even resell a few years down the line, but no go.

The seller "claims" to have a offer of 1200(probally BS, trying to milk me out of more money, but it scares me that the scumbag VGA graded seller, has dumb buyers basing their bids on the assumption that the VGA one is the actual top daollar value of the item, so who knows).

I guess all I can do is wait until later in the auction, to see if he was BSing or the VGA BS confused some buyers, and use my last make a offer, to offer 700 again(if it indeed doesn't sell).

Not too into that scene in general, but there are 3 very specific games I want(DW3, Faria, and Lufia 2). Stupid VGA, I hate them, they have screwed up CCG collecting as well(It's so hard to find a high profile MTG card, that Isn't graded, It's not funny.

Why sealed? You could probably get loose carts for significantly cheaper. Heck you could probably get complete in box that's not sealed for a decent price.

Um, I'm not planning to play it lol(also I already have a playing copy), It's so not about that(It's a sin to open up such a rare item).

well, sadly games like those such as near mint ones is more likely to get resealed to get more money out of it. Worst of all, there could be somebody out there replacing DW3 cartridge with a dirt cheap cartridge and than resealed it.

If I was you, I rather bet my money on buying opened Near mint CIB DW3 instead. I never trust old sealed games online, you would get cheated.

$1800 is way too much to pay for any game, in my opinion. I wouldn't pay $18 for something as mediocre as DW 3.

I've heard of people saying that happens, but It's almost unheard of(besides you can tell if a box has always been sealed or not in "most" cases).

The VGA has supposedly been cought removing the carts, and filling the boxes with foam, then resealing the box lol(yet another reason added to a big list of reasons, as to bwhy you shouldn't get your games graded).

No, I love RPG's. I loved Lufia II, Soul Blazer, Phantasy Star, Final Fantasy VI, etc. But the Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest games were always boring to me.

It seems you're the kind of RPG gamer, that games must be heavily story driven. I suggest you play the original DW 6(use the fan translation), the DS remake of DW 5, and then DW 7, you'll probally love them.

This reminds me of that dumbass last year or so that tried selling a "sealed" copy of Sonic 1 with an opening bid of $10,000. No one bought that shit either and rightfully so.

Buy it, open it, then return it and say the game didn't work. $10 says Paypal would side with you.

That's true that you can tell whatever it's original seal or not. Even I own some games with original sealed marks (I got them for cheap, sold them long time ago), I would be STILL bothered by the fact that it could be resealed by someone who really knows how make it closer to original marks. Yes I know there's no way it can be match closely to originals, but I won't bet on paying high prices for any kind of sealed games unless I got them fresh from store selves when they first came out.

I want to say to each his own. I have a few sealed games and would never open them. However I ran across them at thrift stores. If I found something like DWIII I would flip it instantly so I guess I wouldn't be much better than the buyer to people with moral objections. This doesn't mean I don't personally think its insane to pay so much for something like that but lord knows I am poor and I like to eat and pay the rent.

This makes me glad I only go for loose NES and SNES games.

Sealed or CIB are always best, but only when it's the same price as loose and used.

That being said, I never understood who actually pays the prices for these games and keeps them. Is there just a small group of video game afficionados with that much cash to blow? Don't they have a wife, kids, bills to pay?

It's not really blowing cash, if you can technically turn around and sell a item back, for almost what you paid(the demand is so high, especially that specific item, that it will always sell at the top value rng of what its worth).

While that's not the case perse(I my self am far from wealthy for example), but sadly there are some insanely rich collectors paying insane prices on some items(Stadium events, 1-3.2m, and the world championship carts=enough said).

I could see if it was the prototype/beta of a canceled game(aka Star Fox 2), but an officually released game, that was later just pulled from the shelves, no.

anyone prepared to spend 700+ on a sealed games needs to get priorities in order....that money could be much better spent feeding small kids in africa,, .. or spent on drugs and prostitutes ( which i would do)

There is a very big difference. Panzer Dragoon Saga has a functional use and as a piece of artwork, you get to experience the exterior, interior and the centerpiece: the actual game itself. A sealed game has only the exterior and wrapping to admire. A sealed game is a brick.

What you don't get, is the concept of having original tastes and opinions and a sense of what anything is worth to you personally, instead of basing the value of anything on what you believe it is valued at by others.

Um in the collible world, value Isn't opinion, plus VGA is not professionals for starters(anything other then cards, unsigned cards only, as they have no idea what to do with signed cards, and possibly comic books, they are clueless), a item being graded doesn't increase the value of said item, it just makes it more likely someone will pay top dallar of what said item is worth, and It's pointless to have many types of items graded in general(most people don't like the fact their item is sealed in a case, making it a lot less desireable(case=good, sealed case= bad).

Look if you open a item that there's like only 6 or whatever super low number to be known to still exist, "you are evil", congradulations, you just destroyed a highly prized item, a piece of history, a item most people can only dream of owning, exc.

How is that evil. If you legitimately want to play a game, and just happen to have a sealed copy, I think you have every right to open it. I opened my sealed copy of Shining Force CD because games are meant to be played, and I'm more than likely never getting rid of it anyway, so its market value is of no concern to me.

Granted, buying a sealed game for 2 grand is ridiculous to me anyway, but if you're gonna blow serious money like that, you may as well enjoy what you pay for.

I know someone who bought a sealed version of Taromaru for the Saturn and then opened it to play. His reasoning was he wanted a copy that didn't smell like an ash tray.

EDIT: I'll admit when I was around 9 or 10, I just starting to get interested Sonic but still really liking my snes. So when I saw this on eBay, (a time where I didn't know about piracy yet) I fucking flipped.
