Mortal Kombat questions.

Just some questions about the Mortal Kombat games.


1. Which finishing move is your favorite and which is your least favorite? (Fatality, Friendship, Babality, Animality, Brutality, Hara-Kiri.)


2. What is your favorite character specific fatality and favorite stage fatality in the Mortal Kombat series?


3. Which Mortal Kombat game is the worst one and why? (Excluding Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, portable/handheld MK games, and unlicensed MK games.)


4. What do you think of the Mortal Kombat series overall?

1 = Fatality \\ Everything else, though I've never seen a babality. Presumably that doesn't mean one transforms one's foe into a baby before killing him.

2 = Scorpion's original combustion. \\ The original pitfall.

3 = 3 is god awful. Because I've actually played it; had I played the polygonal editions I'm sure one of them would take the cake. Also too much juggling.

4 = It blows.

1. My favorite is the fatality. My least favorite is the brutality.

2. Raiden's Electrocution from Mortal Kombat 1 is my favorite character specific fatality. My favorite stage fatality is The Pit 3 in MK3/UMK3/MKT.

3. Mortal Kombat 4 is my least favorite, although it isn't a bad game by any means. The controls are good, although some of the new characters just seem like they were thrown in at the last minute. The weapon fighting mechanic was also pretty mediocre. MK4 is half-decent in my opinion.

4. I'd say the MK series is good overall. It isn't fantastic, but by the same token it isn't terrible either.

1a. My favorite is the Fatality
1b. My least favorite would be the Animalities.


2a. Gotta go with Johnny Cage's MK1/2 Decapitation, a classic, simple but effective.
2b. MKII Pit, that top down view was breath taking back in the day.

3. Mortal Kombat 3 is my least favorite, its like they improved the fighting engine but then decided to make a different style of game.

4. Its an unstable series, I like MK1/2/9 but I guess that's not enough to call myself an MK fan anymore.

Second Stage MKII ceiling spikes.

MK1, because it's too bland and easy.

4. What do you think of the Mortal Kombat series overall?

It rules.

Fatalities are obviously my favorite. Every other finishing move felt gimmicky and lame. I did enjoy friendships the first time I saw them, but Babalities were a quick addition into a late revision of MK2 and it shows.

My favorite fatality has to be Sub Zero's spine rip from MK1. It's the most classic and brutal fatality in the entire series. Specifically the Sega CD version of the fatality, because it replaces the scream with a very guttural grunt that makes the entire thing seem so much more violent. I vividly remember going to a six flags when I was younger and playing Mortal Kombat in front of my older sister. She had never seen the game before (it was pretty much brand new) and I showed her the fatality... she gasped. Thats when I knew it was fucking cool.

For the stage fatality, I have to go with the Kombat Tomb from MK2. Uppercutting someone onto a bed of spikes rules, and I love how you can make them fall back off. So brutal.

The worst mortal kombat is Mortal Kombat Advance. It's an awful port of one of the most mediocre MK games.

I fucking love the MK series. Back in the 90's, I was so firmly in the MK camp over the SF camp, even though I played both. I used to enter local tournaments and win. I would print out hundred-page faqs as the arcade games were released and studied them. I would learn tricks, combos, everything about the game. I would follow the games as they were being made, counting down the days till they would pop up in my local arcade.

I absolutely adored the story, I thought it was the coolest video game story of all time. The original trilogy was incredible, with MK2 being, by far, the best game in the series... until the new MK was released. After MKT, I kinda dropped the series - MK4 had a rushed, but alright story, and the games which followed felt uninspired. I still played them but I couldn't recite the stories for those games by heart like I can with the original trilogy.

The new MK is my favorite fighting game this generation. I love how you can build combos so easily, I love how it feels like a very updated MK2. I love the new story, the story mode is probably the best story mode I've seen this entire generation of games. I was glued to my PS3 for an entire day playing through it. I was shocked with what they did to Sub-Zero. I love how they showed off the classic MK1 Sub-zero vs Scorpion fight. I love how they properly incorporated quan chi into the backstory, instead of retconning him like they did with MK4, which winds up making him probably the most despicable and evil character in the entire series.

I love MK very much. Back when I was a teenager, MK was the coolest video game series in the world. You can't appreciate how big MK was unless you were there. The very first game I ever preordered was MK2. I picked up MK1 on mortal monday. I saw the MK movie on opening day. Everything about the series was awesome - you know you got a winner when congress is bitching about your game.

Beginning in... MK:DA, I believe, after "Finish him" was prompted, the defeated player could input a command to kill himself instead of letting his opponent murder him. They were usually lame.

Argh, I love that stupid hold over from American history. Hara-kiri is the specific cut made on oneself in Seppuku, in which you evisorate yourself and attempt to turn the blade and pull it through your rib cage. People around here still call it "Harry Carey".

If it was the only way to save my wife and children from a life of "dishonor", i.e. a life of slavery at best, I would probably have done it. Here they all just get on welfare.

Well, I don't care about women or children, so I can't see myself doing it. As for welfare, some people can't work, and welfare don't give you much, just enough to pay your bills and buy a small amount of groceries.

You don't care for your wife and children? I'm guessing you are single.

IMO there are worse options than a straight-forward death. Like people being successively raped by the winner soldiers, or children turned into forced workers and possibly also frequently raped after sometime... Or like those Indian babies that are sold for rich foreigners to be killed and forced turned into organ donors...
Hara-kiri is something to protect you from such things... It's not stupid at all.

It's a good way to be, trust me. But not caring for people, that's kinda not a good a idea.

Now, knifing oneself so they "might" have a slightly better life, that is entirely another thing. ;)
