I'm pretty sure they were rush ports really. Capcom had been working on that game forever then the 4MB ram cart came out and they just slapped it on there probably unoptimized too. There is no reason for the 4 player mode to be gone and the load times to be that bad.Quote:

You guys need to take off the nostalgia glasses, the game isn't good at all. Vendetta and Violent Storm are Konami's best beat em ups.
Last time I played it I found it to be repetitive AS HELL.

I still play this one fairly regularly at a local arcade and the Japanese version through MAME. I don't disagree with you guys entirely (Violent Storm and Vendetta are awesome games, too), but the Simpsons still has a lot going for it. Granted, it's mostly enjoyable due to the sprite work, fantastic music, and the quirky easter eggs.
You're right, though, combat is pretty limited (although the team up moves are awesome). It's similar to X-Men in that regard, but it still provides a challenge when you try to 1 credit clear it despite how simple it is. I think the "Survival" mode in this with a good group should be an awesome cooperative experience, I'm glad they're encouraging that kind of playthrough.
I used to love this game BITD, but I played it recently at the miniputt arcade and found it excruciatingy boring. Once I got to the "dream" level, I actually just walked away from the cabinet with some credits still left.
I think it's a game that's just fun to play with others, and not so much by yourself.
That much is very true. :) 2P run is the minimum for me, and it only gets better with more.Quote:

That actually is a mode in this one, thankfully. :) It's called "Survival" mode, I'm stoked for it. Would be nice to have that hard limit in X-Men and TMNT, for sure (we usually limit ourselves in offline play but it's impossible to find people willing to do the same online).Quote:

I don't know why Microsoft doesn't let you play every game on XBLA for 25 points each continue, with the ability to adjust difficulty of course. I'd blow a lot more cash on that service than I do just playing demos and buying what I think is worth the price.

That's why I like Capcom's beat em ups I mean especially AvP which IMO is one of the best beat em ups ever. U never feel overwhelmed by an opponent unlike X-Men and TMNT.
The game was released a while back in the iTunes-Store, so I wouldn't exactly say it had been four years since the last release.
The game is okay, though. Not the biggest hit, but certainly better than pretty much every other Simpsons game ... back in the nineties, that is.
