When I think of great Genesis music, I always think of "Ys III". My two favorite tracks from that game would be Tigre Mine, and Valestein Castle.
another game which had great music would be "Thunder Force III". My favorite track from that game would be Haides.
There are many other Genesis games with great music as well, but I just can't think of them right now. Other members will fill in those blanks though.:)

Never heard that Demolition Man track before, it's quite good. I like hearing good stuff on the Genesis that I haven't heard yet, which isn't often.
Seems like we have this list constantly around here, so I am not going to state the obvious. Except for Streets of Rage 2 hooked up to a system with a large subwoofer of course. :D
OOooh yes. Master of Monsters. That's a game rarely talked about. EXCELLENT game. EXCELLENT music.
A personal favorite :)
Can't do this on Nintendo!
The entire Japanese library consists of excellent MD music - with only few exceptions like i.e. Mazin Saga.
A couple of model 1 recordings from Joe Redifer's channel:
The more PSG the better.
A model 2 recording of the Time Trax theme by Tim Follin:
Emu recordings of some of Matt Furniss' tunes:
Let's not forget this tune from Crying aka Bio-Hazard Battle:
rolfmao!
Does the enhanced Pier Solar soundtrack count?
Go to the Soundchip Tribute thread for over 40 of them :)
Some of the most impressive (that weren't posted and aren't obvious like Sonic, SoR, Golden Axe or Shinobi):

Any of the games by Data East, Taito, or Namco tend to have excellent music.
Gotta post this one before someone else does. Top tier, oh yes indeed !

It sounds a bit off in this video. Sounds great running on an Everdrive. . . because I'll never spend $500 on a game.
@Eliminate Down Music (Though not the particular song posted)
Eliminate Down sounds like someone grabbed a cat, tried to kill it by ramming it against a chalkboard, and the cat proceeded to scratch the chalkboard, screech, and fart like crazy.
Mega Turrican (perhaps my single favorite track)
Langrisser (my favorite soundtrack - and Langrisser II ain't too shabby either)
Thunder Force III (my second favorite soundtrack)
No Batman and Robin mentions, smh.
Some of my absolute favourites! There are many more but I don't want to hog the entire thread.
X-Men Shi'Ar Empire
X-Men 2 Magneto's Quarters
Phantasy Star IV Ladea Tower
Sonic 3 Ice Cap Zone
Sonic 2 Chemical Plant Zone (possibly the best game tune of all time)
Pocket Monster 2 (Chinese pirate game) First level theme (at 0:14)
Since it's a pirate game, this tune no doubt got stolen from somewhere else, though I don't know where exactly. It sure is catchy though.
nice stuff bros
could someone post the first stage and maybe more of twinkle tale from an actual genesis, that would be cool.
thanks in return.
I really don't like Sparkster nearly as much as Rocket Knight Adventures, but prefer the soundtrack, mainly when it comes to sound quality. RKA likes to use those shrill, glassy-sounding waveforms that I'm not a fan of while Sparkster seems to avoid them. Interestingly enough, the sound driver used is the same (Vampire Killer). It also helps that the main theme used in Sparkster is a great composition which deserves to be up there with the best classic game themes.
And as no one's posted it so far: My favorite Genesis tune, sounds like people from Mars made it and gets me pumped up like no other.
No gain ground?
I can't really speak for objective musical quality, but the soundtrack to the Genesis X-Men just rocks my soul everytime I hear it.
Mystic Defender soundtrack:
I always enjoyed this tune to the under appreciated game. I think it fits the tempo of the game perfectly.
All great choices listed so far, but I sense a lack of rob hubbard music.

valis iii hasn't been mentioned it as well as the very music I am listening to right now the thunder force 2 boss music for level 1, it is awesome and spell-binding as well as that the ea sports music tracks are mostly good as is the sonic series, how can anyone forget that?
