Decided to do up a poll of everyone's favorite 2D Zelda games here. I feel like ever since the franchise has progressed they've kind of been lost in the limelight compared to the attention that everyone gives Ocarina of Time these days, especially the handheld ones!
So what's your favorite 2D zelda game?
This was a hard choice, as all the 2D Zeldas are amazingly epic, but I had to pick Link's Awakening.
I voted for "A Link to the Past", for the SNES. While the first two on the NES were fun, A Link to the Past is more "well rounded", and contains a better gaming experience for me. The original Legend of Zelda was pretty good, but lacks something that "A Link to the Past" has. "Zelda II: The Adventure of Link's" unique style and level up system also offers a fun and unique experience from the other games, but I prefer A Link to the Past overall.
Although, I actually preferred "Neutopia" for the TG-16 over A Link to the Past, and ironically, It came out before A Link to the Past, which makes it the first 16-bit Zelda-type game.
Zelda II is easily my favorite. To this day it is the only Zelda I reminisce about. The side scrolling segments, both in the towns and in the castles/dungeons, are totally unique and well conceived.

A Link to the Past is FANTASTIC. EVERY SNES owner should have this game, I think. I recently downloaded Neutopia on the Wii's VC. I made it past the second dungeon and I'm having a blast with it!Quote:

The original for sure, though I do like a Link to the Past.
A Link To The Past
Still the first. For one thing it radiates warmth as only NES games can. Beautiful game.
God damn is that Outlands hack hard.
I put AlttP, which would be followed by Link's Awakening, then Minish Cap, then Oracle of Seasons. Don't care for the NES zeldas nor the multiplayer one.
As much as I love the first game in the series, 2nd game gave me far more troubles. So much so that I didn't beat the game till many years later when a friend of mine had a copy (I owned the first game at the time, still do, second one I borrowed from another friend). I finally slayed the game that mocked me for years, then proceeded to whip the games second quest quite easily as stuff carried over to a second playthrough (I don't think it's a second quest per se).
These days I own my own copy of Zelda II, and still have my original Zelda in it's original box, would never let them go, even have LttP. LttP was a game that I traded Gradius 3 for many years ago, still got the cart and managed to acquire two copies of Gradius 3.
