Every console I own, I've kept the cardboard box back and have them staked in a corner of my bedroom; all mint condition. Do you keep them back, as a collector or to sell them with the console at a later date; or do you chuck them away? Discuss!

I have a few but I am thinking about throwing them out but I havent yet because I am still unsure.
For the longest time I kept my Genesis model 2 box since 1993. Then when I went to university my mom chucked it and didn't even tell me :( I wish I still had it, it was mint. I remember when I was a kid and had only 2 games I used to look at all the games featured on the back and wish I had them hahah.
It would be cool if people could make scans of the boxes so that we could preserve the artwork.
no
All the console boxes I currently have, I'll always be keeping, and I put my consoles back in them when I'm done playing with that console.
I've tried to keep all of them over the years, but I'm pretty sure my Saturn and Genesis boxes are gone at this point. They used to be in the garage but now it seems they were thrown out or crushed under clutter.
I'll be honest, I have no interest in keeping console boxes as I do with game boxes/cases.
I keep them when I got them
I had a similar thing. I kept most of the boxes. When I went to college my mom told me I could only keep enough stuff at her house as fit in my closet. I got rid of all the boxes (systems ones and game boxes), all the old computers (except the Atari 800XL), and other stuff. Now that I have shelfspace, I wish I had the game boxes.
I have kep my Wii box and use it to cover a hole in the wall though (its an intentional hole for a corded phone so you can access the phone from rooms on both sides, but I have no need for that hole).
I try to keep them. I still have my Altered Beast Model one box with a Lionel Playworld $189.99 price tag though its very beat up. My favorite is my boxed Super Famicom.
I actually pick out boxes from the recycling bin near my house and sometimes sell them empty online. Usually Wii boxes for some odd reason.
I've kept all the boxes of all the systems/games/accessories I ever bought (that came with them), and I was normally neurotic enough even as a kid to keep the baggies and twist ties. The problem as most said is that they take up a lot of space, but they look really cool now that I'm an adult with my own house and can kind of display them better.
I actually brought a lot of the boxes back from my parents that I had hidden the in my closet long ago. It was pretty awesome to pull out my original N64 boxes including the Zelda LEs that were perfectly mint, then match them back up with my copies of the games and put them up for display. What I've kind of gotten into the habit of now is trying to find one system boxed in nice shape for display, and then a beater to do all my everyday playing on. Except for SegaCDs, I have like 7 of them right now since I'm always afraid of having one go out and not having a replacement, it's ludicrous I know.
I have a few on display around my living room, I wish I had more though as they look so damn cool!
Yes.
Own all my original console boxes back to NES. Only wish I had held onto my Sears Video Arcade box from 1980...
i throw all my xbox 360 boxes no use for those
