Free ebay listings have driven prices up

Yea, selling is discouraging when you get hit with ebay and paypal, especially when they come back multiple times to take money. Someone once paid for something with an "eCheck," which not only took an extra week to clear paypal (added to the month it takes for paypal to let me actually get my money), but they charged me a few bucks just to process the damn thing, on top of their cut they take regardless. I really wish some other alternative existed for this, but its still better than people on craigslist trying to trade me a worn out couch for a car, instead of you know, paying money for it.

Pluss listing in general can be free depending on how you list the item(for example 1 pic or stock pic use is free, doesn't cost anything for example, and there's other options for the other aspects of the listing as well, which will basically make the entire listing free)

I must not an Ebay account to know? You clearly have no clue what you are talking about. I make a large chunk of my living off of Ebay. Have you even looked at the link I posted earlier? It's straight from Ebay. I list items almost everyday. There is almost always an insertion fee. The only exception being if you list fifty or more items a month which some do or the free listing days which happen maybe once a month at the very most.

With the way Ebay is now I don't even bother with selling lower priced stuff. And their whole, "the buyer is right, even when they're completely fucking wrong" mentality is just ridiculous. I can understand updating things to sift out potential scammers, because they were somewhat rampant on ebay at one time, but they just tipped the scales way too far. And with Paypal, if the buyer says something it's basically a "guilty until proven innocent" type deal if you're the seller.

The idiotic part is games where there are at least twenty BIN auctions listed anywhere from $29-$59 a piece (not selling either), while the bidding auctions that start at $.99 are the only ones selling, and at prices around $10-$15 a piece. Nowhere near the BIN asking prices. This type of mass hallucination has become more prevalent since ebay started no listing fee auctions because there is no risk in listing items at exorbitant prices as the seller is out nothing if it does not sell. Similarly, more crazy asking price auctions are sprouting up like boxed SNES systems for $1,000 and such. Again, there is no risk to the seller as he/she is paying no listing fee, so why not ask for the moon?

Yea It's crazy, items stay listed/gets relisted for months by scumbags that have nothing to lose, and they don't sell, then some new seller who while Isn't a scumbag over prices it as well, because all they see are these insanely priced items, thus they think that's what they go for now.

To make matters worse, atleast for gaming related items, 95% of the listings aren't auctions, they're BIN only, which makes it close to impossible to find out what the real going price is.

It's not the most accurate, but it does give a pretty good barometer and factors out BIN prices that don't sell most of the time.

At least that's better than rarity guide. That site goes entirely off of BIN prices that don't sell. They have Megaman 8 on the Saturn as being listed as "Ultra Rare" and worth $100 CIB and $35 disc only. I paid $20 for my CIB copy 2-3 years ago.

No I haven't, but in any case I'm not among the ones being misslead, I can figure out the value of most items that are noteworthy, It's the new sellers that only have a metric ton of BIN prices to go by, and buyers that are more or less forced to pay these prices eventually in general, because there are none being priced at the going rate for months on end(It's either go without or pay these prices that have been posted for months without selling).

Needless to say, on the rare occassion a item is posted at a decent price, It's first come, first serve(you better hope you ended up browsing ebay at the right time), so in anycase there are very few decently priced items to go around.

No, I have not seen that site before, but neither have the Goodwill store clerks who are trusting ebay BIN auctions as the "going rate".:|

OMG goodwill stores are going by the ebay BIN prices too, that's bad sigh(aren't such places suppose to sell it much lower then going rate to beginwith, but now they are trying to sell it at the insane BIN prices, that they assume is the going rate yet is much more then going rate, wtf).

I was about to ask when this policy started. I can get my listing per game down to .05 cents if I find the item description on ebay, otherwise it is .50 cents per game. That is for Buy it Now or Best Offer listings.

Actually before this BIN only BS started, the ram cart alone was selling for 40-45$ in auction format, so considering this has the box, in pretty good shape at that, I got it the cheapest I'm gonna beable to get it period(I would've rather found just the cart for 35, since It's not a game, I don't mind that much, but that's not gonna happen).

I bought a CIB copy from this very website within the last 6 months for $25...

Good for you, glad you didn't get scammed, but in any case I doubt there are many of these offers showing up, even if you are willing to take the risk.
