Sega Ages Gain Ground

I've been playing this on PS2 as I'm a big fan of the original. Even on very easy mode this game seems way harder than the original.

Supposedly it's the best of the Sega Ages series and maybe the only good game from the bunch. I'm enjoying it, the music is excellent and the character balance seems alot better than the original which had alot of rubbish characters.

There is an extra mode that is unlocked by finishing the game and I'm wondering it's worth all the effort.

Any thoughts?

I gotta agree with you there. That version of Gain Ground is definitely one of the best Sega Ages titles (alongside Dynamite Deka)

I haven't played the Gain Ground remake but the Fantasy Zone ones are well made. The first FZ game is a quality remake with 3d graphics and FZ2 DX is even better as it's made to look like an actual System 16 arcade game from the '80s.

All the later (like after Vol.11 iirc) Sega Ages PS2 releases are very good.
Gain Ground was just one of the only good early Sega Ages PS2 games.
The later batch was handled entirely different than the earlier ones.

The Phantasy Star Collection is criminally overlooked.
