Castlevania Dracula X Operation! HELP!

OK, so I'll just tell you guys what I got now that I was hype about in the "Haul thread" but need some serious help on it.

I NEED YOU GUYS TO HELP ME STEP BY STEP!

Ok so yesterday I won a CIB copy OF Castlevania X for quite a deal actually and now I'm here worried as hell about the removal of these stickers as shown in the picture.

I have the following tools for the job:
-Air Dryer
-Magic Eraser
-Goo Gone
-Some Q-Tips
-White shirt for drying

I am new to some of the products like the magic eraser and goo gone.
I've seen more pictures of the game and it's in freakin amazing condition, and I wanna prevent making the condition of the game go from "very good" to "Acceptable".

I can easily remove the stickers in the cart with my air dryer but I'm more worried on how to remove that one sticker in the box than the one's on the manual.

Please help me understand on where to begin and start!

id honestly leave the decals on the box and manual, it's nearly impossible to get rental decals off of cardboard boxes and manuals without ruining them. the cartridge should be easy enough to remove the decals with the goo gone.

You might be able to get the one off the box. Do NOT use Goo Gone on it, that will eat through the varnish on the box. You should use rubbing alcohol on q-tips if necessary, and go slow. The manual is a write-off, sorry to say there is no way to get that barcode off it. The other labels might be removable, but it's super risky no matter what.

I say try to save the box, replace the manual, ????, profit.

I know a way but it takes a lighter and some acid.

Just curious, did you know those stickers were on it before you bought it?

Yea I knew the stickers where there but didn't fully care since the stickers are on the front label, the box has had that can remove and the manual well just be sold for a replacement.

I found some 70% rubbing alcohol, is it safe? When I first tried removing a sticker on an old snes sports game box, with a watered Q-tip, it actually didn't do a bad job.

Yeah it will work, just go in circles and don't get the box too wet. What you want to avoid is getting any moisture near the edges of the box, because it will suck up the alcohol UNDER the varnish and ruin the box. Same goes for cart labels. Always be careful around edges.

Maybe do a test spot on one of the tabs first to make sure it doesn't soak through.

I'm gonna say don't use rubbing alcohol since it can lift the ink on the box up as well as the sticker.

I normally start with removing stickers by putting a bit of Ronsonal lighter fluid on the stickers and letting it sit for a bit. If you see it make the sticker semi-transparent it's doing it's job. Wait a bit and let it evaporate off. Then put a bit more lighter fluid on and try to very gently with like the tip of your fingernail lift the corner of the sticker. If it comes up pretty easily then continue putting the drops of lighter fluid on the area where the sticker and box are separating and continue to remove it very slowly. This method has worked for me on the majority of stickers I've had.

If it doesn't seem to be separating when you try to life the corner. Wait for the lighter fluid to evaporate again and then try to heat up the sticker with a hair dryer. Start at lower heat, and gradually move up to the highest heat on the hair dryer to warm up the sticky part underneath the sticker; 30s to a minute is normally the most I'll need. Then once the sticker is heated up try lifting the corner of the sticker again. Normally if should start to lift at this point but if not then you might have a super durable sticker.

The only potentially effective way I know of to remove stickers from paper and cardboard is to heat them with a hair dryer and then slowly peel them off. There will still be some glue reidue though if the stickers are super old.

When peeling stickers, pull from the base of the peel, not from the tip of the already peeled section.

Well using the hair dryer on a certain area of the box for too long damage it?

For the hair dryer I would hit it with a quick blast of heat then using a razor blade or sharp knife lift up a corner of the sticker. Then gently pull as you blow more heat at the underside of the sticker. I've had pretty good luck with this method.

FUCK IT- well do the Hair dryer method.

I'd pick up a hot air gun instead of a hair dryer. Those can do a lot better removing these stickers from labels. It also gives you a greater degree of control of how hot the stickers get, and makes it easier to heat them up and remove the hot air to pick at them. I would definitely only use my fingernails to pick at the stickers edges and then only slowly pull the sticker away from the label. I have repaired more carts and manuals like this than not with this method, don't use any chemicals!

It won't because the varnish on the box is the same that would keep Ronsonol from soaking through. The ink isn't the first layer.

If it was me..I won't care..I buy to play it, if it was cheap
