Depends on which FM Towns you're speaking about. The FM Towns Marty, for example, used a different VDP than the regular FM Towns computer.
Sadly I don't know too much about either, but you might have some success asking at Assembler.
This is going to be tough. I guess asking directly one of the former developers is the easiest way.
If I remember correctly the Marty is the console version where as the others are actual home Computers. So which were you interested in, or were you interested in both?
I don't know much about them either but that would help narrow it down.

You are incorrect. The Marty uses the same components sans CPU and RAM.
I own an FM Towns Model CX-20 PC. I can check the part number for you. If you have any questions, post them here :)
