I've got a 3DS, and it's alright, i spose.
It's really interesting to read the various responses regarding the 3DS. I was actually on the fence with respect to picking up this little handheld. Alot of people complained about how the 3D effect only worked if the system was held at the right angle and some criticized the battery life.
I've had the DS lite for quite some time and it was only recently that I bean to enjoy some of the games that were available.
The only reason I picked up a 3DS was because I heard that Resident Evil Revelations was being released for the handheld. Let me tell you, it does not disappoint! Personally, they've returned the series back to it's roots. The visuals and controls are (as Tony the Tiger would say) great! The other game that I had the pleasure of buying is Tales of the Abyss! This is my first exposure to the Tales series and I am really enjoying the RPG.
The games I am hoping to add to the 3DS library are Kid Ikarus, Kingdom Hearts 3D, and Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D. Although the 3DS library is small, as of recently they are churning out good sold games. And honestly, I would prefer that they continue down this path rather than releasing shovelware!
Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars was one of the first games I got at launch. It's a completely respectable turn-based strategy game, although it's no Fire Emblem or Advance Wars. I got more enjoyment out of that game than Mario Kart, to be honest...
A few Game Gear titles were released on the 3DS download service today. I was pretty excited about it until I saw that they started with Sonic Triple Trouble, for some reason. Downloaded it anyway, along with Shinobi.
Well, Sonic is Sega's cash cow, it's pretty obvious a Sonic game would be one of the first Game Gear games to become downloadable. Sonic Triple Trouble is one of the better GG Sonic titles anyway, if not the best GG Sonic title, so it's a pretty good start for them.
I would have preferred to start with Sonic 1, or at the very least [**a different subtitled Sonic game, the name of which escapes me at the moment**].
I've never played Triple Trouble... How is it?
Triple Trouble is fun but a bit sluggish at times and pretty ambitious for the Game Gear, same with Sonic Chaos. I agree with the notion of Sonic 1 being the best on GG/SMS though.
I'd like to see Tails' Adventure and Tails' Sky Patrol hit the 3DS eventually too.
I quite liked the slow pace of Triple Trouble, made for a good alternative to the Genesis games. Labyrinth is a good game too, gets way too much unfair flak.
Everyone should buy Trip Trub and GG Shin O Bi.
Game Gear Shinobi on the 3DS, awesome! Thank you Mr. Iwata!
A year into it's lifespan and we're finally seeing an effort made at bettering the eShop. What's needed now is concentrating a bit more on the SNES and GBA games.
as much as I'd like some gba games on the 3ds eshop, nintendo themselves have said many times that other then the "ambassador" titles there will be no plans for gba games on the eshop for those of us that purchased the 3ds after the price drop. :(
to be honest, that's a load of crap and kind of a slap in the face to the rest of the 3ds owners. I'm hoping to see some genesis, snes, tg 16 games on the eshop someday, and maybe some virtual boy games since I think 3ds could handle them well.
Nintendo will eventually alter its philosophy by placing GBA games on the eShop because it doesn't any other choice. Punch Out (featuring Mr Dream) won't cut it nor will original NES releases. The sheer amount of quality titles released for the ole' hand held would nicely supplement any lulls in new 3DS releases. A page needs to be taken out of the Sony playbook since it seems to be offering a great deal of both past and present content through the ps shop on the Vita.
