If you really think people can just easily go out and buy JSR and will play it on their dreamcast, you've got your head in the sand. I realize this is a retrogaming website, but most people are not willing to do that. In fact, this has been one of the most asked for re-releases in years. Given the fact that #JetSetRadio is trending on twitter right now, people are extremely happy about this.

That's because they're not 3D. they completely wrote a brand new engine, both physics and graphics, from scratch however.

Yeah, it's hard for me to get excited over the prospect of a port of a game I've had for at least half a decade.

If it gets more people into Sega, I'm all for it. But it's certainly not very exciting to me personally, and JSR was never my favorite Sega IP, anyway. I'd still probably play Jet Set Radio 3, though. That's what I thought this thread was gonna be about.

It's a true Dreamcast port, not a shitty PC-port-of-a-Dreamcast-game like they did with Sonic Adventure DX. Never played any of the JSR, so this is perfect for me.

This is just a downloadble-only port of a single-player game that I've owned since it came out on the Dreamcast.
What's all the fuss about? I thought it was a sequel to complete a trilogy or something. No thanks.

A new game would be nice but I don't trust today's Sega to do it right. They would probably just find some random shovelware developer to make it.

This is the one to play and the porting's good cz it's one of the absolute most painful games to play w/ a DC pad due to constant use of the shoulders and many circular pad motions (executing the grand tags). It actually made good use of the online feature in that one could download images to be used as one's tags--and the grand tags are huge, you could paint a town in porn. (Just, for example's sake *wink*). Perhaps this port will enable some kind of online multiplayer a la Demon's Souls...nothing too intrusive I hope, it's not really meant for gangs of people playing at once. Hope the camera's tweaked too. Different music would be a great help but I don't see that happening, particularly since most gamers seem to like it. I'm leery of graphical alterations too.

The sequel on Xbox is pure shit, they castrated it. The first even looked better.

Sega's brand is starting to kick ass again. All the complainers who want more instead of what they're offering here need to step back and realize the benefits of what they're doing. They're making awesome old games cheap and easy to acquire for those with only modern hardware in front of them. Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is coming this summer, get excited.

People here are a bit grumpy. I haven't played this for ages, looking forward to the re-release.

I've never even played it (unless the GBA game counts), that's why I'm looking forward to it.

Shame my 360's banned, though (I could DL the trial from somewhere)

I always presumed that SEGA was on the rebound until I happened upon the news story of SEGA's third quarter financial results:

- profit of ¥34.4 billion (£284.7m)
- sales of ¥311.7 billion (£2.58bn)
- ¥64.1 billion in net sales came from the Consumer Business arm
- this is a shrinkage of 4.9 per cent from the same period in the year previous
- consumer business made a net loss of ¥5,509 million
- Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games sold 2.4 million copies on Wii
- Sonic Generations sold 1.6 million with all platforms totaled
- 2.8 million Wii games sold
- 620,000 3DS games sold
- poor foreign sales were blamed for the sector's shrinkage
- "In the home video game industry, demand was generally weak in the U.S. and European markets due to the headwinds such as sluggish personal consumption. The Group needs to adapt to a changing business environment in which the market demand for new content geared toward social networking services (SNS) and smartphones is expanding."

Yeah, The whole industry is getting squeezed hard. The economy is shit, especially in Japan after the earthquake. The Japanese multinationals saturated their own market by bringing the money home, inflation is rising, loss of value for money held offshore, increased development costs and weaker exports. It sucks for Japan, but it's not like their economy was any good to begin with. They've been in the toilet since the 1980s.


I still think Sega is kicking ass as a brand given the circumstances. I still think everybody who gives a fuck about Sega should appreciate what the new guys running it are doing with the fan service. I barely play games these days, I still find their software worth buying on an impulse, and I easily throw money at their digital releases. I still pay attention because they do too, and I appreciate it. They just gave up more fan service by adding an 8-player online rooms feature in the new Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown. They give away free stuff on twitter every friday, and engage the fans on facebook. They're kicking ass again.
