In the Arcade Daytona turns wonderfully. For example in the Beginner course where you come up to the last turn of the track all you do is shift from 4th, to 2nd, to 4th again and cut the wheel the whole way with the gas pedal floored and you'll clear the turn just fine. Like I said, it's more like doing a combo move in a fighting game.
I'm not going to read through this trainwreck to see if this was addressed. The Daytona games introduced Sega's powerslide mechanic in its purest and most complex form. You have to slam on the brakes as you yank the wheel in the direction of the turn, and then slam on the gas again to powerslide through the difficult turns. I enjoyed the games without knowing this for about five years, but man, the powerslide mechanic opens this game up into never ending awesomeness.Quote:

If you're good at manual you don't even have to take your foot off the gas. You can just keep it floored. Though obviously on Expert and Advanced this doesn't always work out so well.
I dunno why anyone would play a racing game on anything other than manual. Learning how to shift into tight turns is like the entire point of a racing game for me.
It really depends. I try to play manual most of the time but on games that I'm playing on a console I find it gets rather difficult to properly shift with a gamepad. If I'm playing with a Wheel though I tend to do manual as I have an easier time shifting while still being able to effectively control my steering and throttle.
I can't play racers without manual. Actually, I can barely drive automatic cars in real life. I have actually been saved from horrendous accidents thanks to having the ability to down shift and gun it on more than one occasion.
My Logitech wheel has a very basic gear, so I never play manual.
Haha yeah, the few times I've driven an automatic car, I've almost thrown it in neutral while driving because I'm used to actually shifting gears. And I always slam my left foot down onto nothing.Quote:

Now that you mentioned it, I think this is why I never bothered to read the manual in the Saturn adaptations. In the Arcade I just down shifted like I did in other games and made the curve. I would SUPER ENJOY a port of Daytona 2 and a sequel. Daytona Circuit Edition on Saturn is one of my favourite games. I will buy a wheel just for that if it ever exists (and does not SEGA Rally 2006 itself).
I don't think that it would as much fun as Daytona USA 4 .;)
Seriously though, I'll take anything I can get, including a faithful to the original playing port with current gen graphics. I think that the best we'll see for some time will only be straight ports of previous releases.

rather then daytona 3, I'd rather play a excellent quality arcade port of daytona 2 for ps3 or Xbox 360. I was actually not aware that there was a second game until I saw this thread.
