I am just wondering if anyone wouldn't mind a new game being produced on the GBA. Like how SFT does with new Genesis games. Does it have to be DS? It seems there's also some psychological niche that goes with wanting to buy new games for old systems that are physically produced and the mentality of the GB community seems to be whatever is current for the Nintendo handheld line. What do you think?
Nah. There's still some old GBA games that I need to get.

Honestly I'd rather buy a new Genesis or SNES game if it's good. I'm not very fond of GBA.
I would definitely would consider purchasing a new GBA game. We should not forget that DS/DS lite is backwards compatible and therefore there is definitely a potential market for a new game.
GBA is still a bit too new and honestly, handhelds aren't really that popular (sole exception is Zaku on Atari Lynx). It's just in general a better idea to develop for a home console.

I'd prefer to see an original Game Boy game with Super Game Boy capabilities, to be honest.
Absolutely not, there's no way it'd approach commercial class, particularly when you consider my GBA machine is my DS. The retro appeal is for old systems with finite libraries every retro player knows backwards and forwards. The GBA's much newer and given that it's split with the DS which is still active not finite either. And that's the other aspect of homebrew appeal, making new stuff that can rival or outperform the old due to hardware and programming advancements over the years, a null prospect for homebrewers on GBA.
The system is too recent for me to care. But, most importantly, the GBA has a shit-ton of good games already. It also has too many games that are mere ports, anthologies or remakes of older games. The market is way too saturated as it is. A new game for the system would smell more like shovelware, if you asked me. Might as well make a new game for the PS2, or the PS1 while you're at it. :?
I purchased Blast Arena Advance. No reason I wouldn't purchase another homebrew GBA game.
I've been playing my GBA a bit since I got one. I wouldn't mind buying a new game for it, but the game should cost less than a SFT game.
I would buy a new GBA game that was good an interested me.
I think I'd be a little confused as to why they wouldn't just develop a SNES game, but I'd make a purchase if it got good reviews for sure.
That said, how awesome would it be to see homebrew original GB games! Where's MrMatthews when you need him?
That's because the Gameboy Advance is significantly more powerful than SNES. Also, I hear that circumventing SNES's protection against unauthorized carts is much more difficult, according the SFT, which is why they're charging more for it allegedly, and this also seems true with the few unlicensed SNES games that exist like Super 3D Noah's Ark and Riversi Kids. I believe Game Genie relied on the piggybacking technique to bypass protection, didn't it?Quote:
