I wouldn't. The GBA for me was always that system between the Game Boy and the DS that was...okay. Had a couple of great games (Fire Emblem!) but overall the library felt like such a re-hash.
I enjoy the Game Gear more than the GBA.

I still buy used GBA games, no reason I wouldn't buy a new one as well.
What's blasphemy is all the Sega games re-released on the GBA. They're attrocious. I'd say that's bad as it is, but that's only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to GBA re-releases. Yuck!
Other than that, as long as they're original games, the GBA sure is one top notch gaming handheld.
P.S.> I've been enjoying my Game Gear in particular more than any of my other handhelds these days.
