How much did you pay for your Sega Nomad?

I was talking to my brother-in-law last night about cool systems that we'd love to find at a swap meet (Jaguar, Master System, TG-16, etc). He told me that if I ever saw something called a "Nomad," I should definitely pick it up, and was blown away when I told him that I already had one.

I bought mine off ebay right when I started getting back into video game collecting (as opposed to reselling, which was what I was doing before). As a matter of fact, it was when I was researching games I'd like to buy that I stumbled upon Sega-16.

Anyway, for some reason, I thought I bought my unit pretty inexpesively, but when I pulled up my old Paypal records, I found that I had paid nearly $80 for the system, and it came with 5 loose games, and I had to buy the A/V cable separately. Granted, this is a lot cheaper than today's ebay prices, but I could have sworn I paid closer to $40.

What kind of deals did you guys get on your systems?

I bought mine new when EB were clearing out Nomads for $79.99.

I bought mine from FX for about $80 as well.

I also bought one on clearance at EB, but I paid $49.99. I thought it was insane it was still there, but at that point I guess people didn't care about 16 bit stuff anymore.

I then walked over to Radio Shack and picked up some of those "rechargeable alkaline" batteries and charger for $35, and stopped by a Walmart that still had Genesis games and grabbed Street Fighter 2 CE for $15. Good times!

Got mine not long after it first released at a Kay Bee. $180 if I remember correctly. Still own it. Could use a new screen though.

Got mine the christmas it was released. I don't know how much my mother paid for it, but I'm guess full price at least.

I paid $70 last year for just the Nomad with no battery pack along with some other stuff.

The other stuff included a N64 and GameCube both with a couple games, a SNES with about a dozen pretty good games, and about 30 NES games. It was a good deal but the guy's place smelled horrible and I couldn't test anything. It was totally worth the gamble though since everything worked great once I got it home and cleaned it up a bit.

$30 for a loose Nomad at a flea market. I got the official battery pack on eBay but I forgot how much I got it for.

Mine also included the battery pack and I think the AC adaptor.

I paid $116.13, but it came with a lot of stuff -- AC adapter, battery pack, rechargeable battery pack (which still worked at the time), car adapter, X Band modem (not that it worked by then), Game Genie, a six-button controller, and several complete games. This was back in 2000.

$40.00 used with AC adapter, storage case, and battery pack. The guy threw in a few loose games ... one of which was Gunstar Heroes and Streets of Rage 3. Even though I detest loose cartridges, I was happy with my purchase! Go me! :D

I believe I paid mine $150 at a specialty game shop in the US. Had its screen protector replaced and came with the battery holder for the 6 AA batteries. It's a huge battery-eating brick, but I don't regret my purchase of the Nomad one bit. I do wish it had a YM2612 instead of a YM3438, but hey, it's just a small detail. As I usually play Genesis games on the Nomad with no sound, I pretty much don't care about this as much as I would with the home systems.

It could use a better screen, though, as the blurring is just really bad for Shoot-em-Ups.

$0, I don't own one. I have seen 2 used nomads locally for $50 and $70 in the past few months though.

Paid $100 for a refurb back in the day (and sold it years later, like a doofus). If I found one in the wild (i.e. at a reasonable price), I'd get another one, but won't pay eBay prices for one.

At one point I picked up a spare pretty cheap at a thrift store and sold it about a year ago with a power supply, SSFII and Lightening Force for $70.
