Pangya Fantasy Golf.
As for RPGs the big names are Dissidia 012, Persona 3, FF Tactics: War of the Lions, Tales of the World Radiant Mythology 3, Valkyria Chronicles 2. Cardinal Arc looks like the sort of thing you might like. There are several Star Oceans but I can't speak to their quality.
Grand Theft Auto
I need to get a PSP just because I want to play my Gradius collection (have it sitting on the shelf for several months).
Gradius Gaiden ftw!
Gradius collection has arcade ports of Gradius 1-4 and Gradius Gaiden from PSX.
Pretty nice collection if ya ask me.
The two God of War titles are also fine games
Patapon, Locoroco, Mega Man Powered Up, Me and my Katamari, and Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins.
Mega Man Powered Up is a remake of the first Mega Man game with 3D graphics, it also has two more robot masters. It plays, sounds, and looks amazing, I highly recommend it.
Locoroco is a really fun and quirky game, I'd recommend the first over the second.
Patapon is a music rhythm style game, you go around with your army and in order to make a move, you hit a certain combination buttons,it's really addicting and fun, possible the best game on the system! I haven't played the sequels though.
Get Phantasy Star Portable, Phantasy Star Portable 2, and import Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity. I'm really tempted to buy a PSP just for those 3 titles myself.
Wow old PSP games are super cheap, nomatter how good they are huh(just got Disgaea 1, and 2 for 20 bucks each, brand new mind you). Perhaps the PSP fanbase Isn't as big as I thought(the PSP version is the better version too, since NIS screwed over DS fans by not releaseg the Disgaea 2 remake on the DS as well).
Try R-Type Tactics and R-Type Command.
And FFT is better than the PSX version by a goddamn mile.
R-Type Tactics? Is it actually a tactics game or is it just a bad title(It's hard to imagine turning a space shooter, into a tactics game)?
I highly doubt that, it looks like the graphic whores at square went to town on the remake of FFT(not saying It's the worst game Square has made, omg they have made some really bad games, but the only reason I can see to play the remake, is to try out the extra classes, which Isn't a big deal, since most of the char you'll want to use, are the special char anyway).
Ehh, that's arguable. I appreciate what they were trying to do with the new translation, but they kind of got carried away with how "flowery" it was. Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy XII were leagues better in that regard. The cutscenes, however, were very well done, as was the voice acting.
The two additional classes are admittedly pretty neat, and the bonus characters are cool as well as being useful. There is, however, lag after every in-battle action, and it is noticeable if you've played the original FFT as much as I have. The main thing I didn't like was the addition of a couple new storyline scenes; to me, they really felt shoe-horned in, and they stuck out like sore thumbs, particularly the one where Algus is brought back as a zombie for some reason. Depending on how much of a purist you are, those might not be as much of a big deal.
Finally, the multi-player is admittedly awesome if you've got a friend to play it with (there are a bunch of co-op missions, and you can do vs. as well), but I don't know if Zoltor would have access to those options.
So yeah, if you have the PSX version and you've played it to death, there isn't necessarily any reason to pick it up unless you really want a copy you can play on the go, or you've got a friend to play with.
Lol there's loading delays/lag in a "turn based" tactic game, never thought that would be a problem(although I probally shouldn't be too surprised). Omg that would so drive me nuts, after each action too? Yikes.
Yea I do, but who knows if they would play, we all play the original fairly often, so it would most likely be a one time thing, just to check it out, so not something that would get regular/repeated use.
Seriously, get Phantasy Star Portable, Phantasy Star Portable 2, and import Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity.
Yes, a lot of PSP games are pretty darn cheap right now. If you're willing to dig through local Gamestops you can find some really good deals, plus this week there is a Buy 2 get 1 Free at Gamestop on all PSP and DS games that I just learned about yesterday. If you saw my recent posting in the haul thread I just got Pangya for about $3, but it all depends on your local selection.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I no longer buy from GS, but a lot of other stores will be running sales I'm sure(I just heard from a target rep, "that the PSP was just recently discontinued", which ofcourse means many stores will be trying to get rid of their inventory. I'm probally gonna go to Best Buy(they have a big gaming section).
Oh yea, I should probally check out the movie rental places, those places are great, they basically give their stuff away.
To TrekkiesUnite118: I take it, you're a huge Phantasy Star fan lol
Not just that, they're good games. They are probably the best online RPGs on the PSP.
Oh the PSP games are actually real MMOs, then I'll probally pass, I Jump between too many MMOs as is, but thanks anyway.
Skeaking of which airrivals finally got 3.3, no joke, It's really here(thought it would never come), plus I started playing Atlantica Online again(got a lv 120, a bunch of lv 120 A, and B mercs to support, exc, so I'll be bussy with that. Being high lv comes with so many responsabilities sigh, but you have to do, what you have to do).
Phantasy Star Portable is Single Player with local Wifi Multiplayer. Phantasy Star Portable 2 and Portable 2 Infinity have single player story modes with full online multiplayer that's free to play.
Yea, I was just comparing the games single/multiplayer, structure wise.
Yea I guess, it sure wont break the bank, that's for sure lol.
I recommend Half-Minute Hero. It's made to look like an old-school RPG but it's more like an RPG-themed action/puzzle game.
Half Minute Hero is awesome.
Don't overlook Aedis Eclipse, it's NIS but old enough you might've missed it. Adventures to Go! may also be to your liking. (--God knows where to find reliable online information about PSP games though, they all get trashed by the magazines; perhaps try Eurogamer if it's not a bother searching there for you).
Oh, and I can't believe no one mentioned this earlier but the Ys games that were released are really good, also Lunar: Silver Star Harmony got decent reviews but if you've got it on another system you're probably not missing anything.
Ys I + II
Ys: The Oath in Felghana
Ys: The Ark of Napishtim
Ys Seven
Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection
