Summer games for the Genesis

We are already in mid-April. Just a few weeks from now, temperatures will raise, final exams will be done, the sun will burn our skins if we don't take care, and ice cream will be the best food in the world. Remember your infancy, when time didn't pass as fast. All you did was hanging out with your friends, going into the nearest forest with your mountain bike looking for adventures, going to the swimming pool or the beach, and, of course, don't forget playing your favorite Genesis games!

Aladdin
This is a classic Disney game, and a fan-favorite of the Genesis. Altough I don't find it as enjoyable as most, its desert setting fits quite well into the summer season.

Cool Spot
With its beach, harbour and even a plastic pool, it's the perfect game to play in a hot summer morning. Gets extra points for its soundtrack!

Desert Strike and Jungle Strike
Set in the Iraqi desert first, and in the jungle in the second, these are some great games to play throughout summer. An almost perfect mix of arcade and strategy, and lots of cool missions. The third one changed its setting to an urban environment and that's why it's not included.

Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco the Dolphin: Tides of Time
If there is a perfect example of summer games, these would be it. Controlling Ecco in these puzzle-like games, you swim around tropical paradises avoiding all types of marine creatures. A big point of both Eccos is the great atmosphere the graphics and music create. You can almost feel the fresh water in your face as you do all sorts of acrobacies!

Greendog: the Beach surfer dude
This game has "summer" written all over it. You are a surfer, the game is set in Hawaii and theres lots of beach and hidden ruin scenarios. I really love the design of the first stage.

Jurassic Park trilogy
Evade dinosaurs as you traverse a suffocating jungle full of tropical flora and enjoy its scenary... if you can.

Jungle Book
A pretty good game with a jungle environment and a good summer feel. The need of hunting for jewels separate it from other generic side-scrollers.

PGA Tour Golf 1, 2 or 3
Sit back in the most comfortable couch you can find, and let's enjoy some golf. No music is heard during game, and the birds chirp is your only companion. Appropiate for spring too.

Outrun
Of course! Race with your red Ferrari against the time while you listen to some rockin' soundtrack. The scenario has a great colorful quality to it and helps a lot to the great feeling of freedom.

Honorable Mentions:
Chuck Rock, the Flintstones, Lion King, Toki, Ariel the Little Mermaid.

Bimini Run? Seems kinda summery. And baseball games are always great summer games, since summer is baseball season.

The beach level particularly. But that soundtrack - so atmospheric. I used to play this on the Mega CD "classics" disc - I suppose any of the games / music on there remind me a bit of summertime, but SOR is probably more so by design - nostalgia on my part is incidental :) (Side note: why do I still not own any kind of OSTs for SOR I/II? Not right at all!)

Nobody really mentions (likes?) this game but it is very summery, and fun (except the irritating fish feeding level.) Used to play this with my grannie when we visited in the summer, too. (Grandparents were awesome and owned a Megadrive console and not just as a fun kid diversion. They were generally awesome people, in fact - I miss them.) Robocod = Christmas, too in case anyone forgot :P

Yes. (I must admit to not having played either of these games for more than 5 minutes each, but... come on, it's in the title.)

Also, no mention for the Sonic games? 1-S&K (and CD, of course) any of the green levels are especially summer-tastic. (And 8 bit GHZ must be one of the most happy-inducing musics ever! In general, I like the music from SMS Sonic 2 a lot better than the game itself... :/)

Normy's Beach Babe-O-Rama seems pretty summery to me

Love the Tidal Surge track and that level fits well with Summer.

Dashin' Desperadoes - with the exception of the one arctic level, all the other stages take place in very summery settings. There's a fantastic beach level, a tropical jungle, a sunny countryside, a summery city level and a sweltering hot exotic ruin. Great game (ugly cover art, don't let it put you off the game though).

Any Sonic game!

I didn't want to open another thread to ask for it so I'll ask it here: Is King Salmon any good? The only reviews and opinions I can find think it is great or just average.

If you're looking for a decent fishing competition simulator better stick to "BASS Masters Classic: Pro Edition". Personally I think it's the better game.

(Yeah, I've spent quite some time playing fishing games on the Genesis. I was sick and bored...)
