In regards to RGB compatibility, Chuck at the website told me its possible its only a problem when converting rgb to component in USA. He told me it could be just fine for real RGB, and told me further he would do more testing on that this weekend and get back to me. Other than that, it also says on the website that RGB compatibility is coming as soon as its possible. Also stated is if you are an RGB gamer, they want to talk to you about it, so help out and we might have these sooner rather than later.
I got mine today -the M1 variety- and it works great via s-vid. :)
Yeah, I lugged them all back out. Looked like it used to - perfect black, no artifacts or banding.
I know this is off topic but the sega trio would be a great name for a all in one genesis, cd, 32x system.
Real as in not converting it. In USA you are hardpressed to run pure RGB to your tv, in Europe its standard. As for your other comment, i wouldnt know. I simply forwarded what he told me.
Again, only forwarding what he told me. I live in Europe so i dont need to convert any signals, i just use an RGB cable as is. I also have both the metal plates for my system and currently running my genesis + cd1 on aftermarket ac adapters with no distortions. they are thin enough to be able to put next to eachother on a power strip. But if this thing works as advertized, that would be even better. As for why an ac adaptor would cause any visual distortions is beyond my knowlegde.
I can understand weird effects of lacking power. They aren't well understood (most people don't want to risk killing their genesis to test).
Being specific to RGB is what seems illogical based on current info on this situation. We all know RGB is created by the console *before* going to a video encoder, which can't restore graphics already messed up.
I'm certainly looking forward to seeing what the outcome of this is. Although regardless, the fact that this came out, had the site notified, and then the site was updated with this disclaimer all within a day or two is nice. The fact that they were so responsive with that as well as the e-mails gives me hope that they will flush out whatever is causing the issue. Be it a defective unit, or a design bug that only shows up in a particular situation for some reason.
Either way, I'd love these cables to be just as robust and reliable as the Sega ones, with the added level of convenience, but I'm certainly going to wait o see how this all plays out.
Jesus, I feel kinda bad for putting up those pics of the power adapters after reading some of your results.
