My GF ( without my knowledge) nearly got scammed this morning, trying to buy a british bulldog for me off the net. After finding out that she was up to something i got the number of the seller, who was in fact in cameroon ( not yorkshire in england as he was saying) and was demanding she proceed in handing over 350 quid to him as he already had the dog on the way to her

after reading / researching a bit today , and already knowing about nigerian scams anyway, it seems one of the newer scans is to post on british ad sites that they have good quality pedigree dogs for sale at cheap( alarm bells would ring for me) prices.

waste of time reporting it but it seems the dog scam speads far and wide, USA included. So be careful yaaal

Buying a dog off the net ? Just go to a shelter or pet store. I would only buy stuff online from reptutable sites.

buying dogs off the internet is complete idiocy. only buy your pets from reputable breeders & pet stores & shelters.

There's plenty of dogs at your local humane society that would love a home.

All right, so I get that it's a scam to buy dogs off the internet, but are you saying it's no longer safe to buy Cameroons online?

I actually got caught by one of these a few years back. I was selling a car online and got a call through Sprint relay for the deaf. Through the translator I negotiated a price for the car plus shipping, because the buyer wanted me to pay the shipper myself to drive the car to his location. The buyer had a nice story that he/she was in the business of procuring cars for people and fixing them up however they liked. I figured as long as the money was real I didn't care.

The buyer paid in postal money orders, don't laugh, I researched and literally everybody at the time said postal money orders were the same as cash. The bank manager who was responsible for all of this has since been arrested for trafficking child porn. Because Sprint would_not help the investigation while I was still stringing the scammer along for the rest of the money, I will not ever receive a phone call from Sprint relay ever again and have informed them of this in every way possible.

Yeah, I got a great dog from a shelter. Total sweetheart, she loves people. Everyone should consider adoption first, because there are some fantastic dogs in shelters that only want to have a home and master. If you do have your heart set on a certain breed of dog, do a Google search for breed specific rescue groups in your area.

those kind of scams also happen on craigslist all the time, especially if trying to sell something. I cant even begin to count the amount of scam emails i've gotten when I tried to sell stuff on craigslist or when I tried to enquire about a item or adopting a pet.
