The Oldest ORIGINAL Game In Your Collection

Hmm, hard for me to say. All my NES games are gone (stolen with the system) But I may still have a few old Atari games packed away at my moms place (berzerk, space dungeon, kaboom, missile command, joust) but the system itself died and is long gone... so I doubt those games are still there.

After those would be my Sonic 1 pack in from when I got my genesis, that one I know I have at least. So sometime in 1991 or 92 I think is when I got it... as I don't remember how long it was out for exactly, but it was pretty new.

@ OP: what do you mean by ORIGINAL? Like the most recent brand new game I bought?

Phantasy Star II. Though I've managed to lose the manual, much later the guide book, and very recently the box, which was the only of those three I'd ever used. Now I just have a lame loose cart. One of these days I'll buy another, complete down to the map (which I can't recollect ever having owned), and spend a week filling all 4 slots with beaten files.
Next closest would be a few Playstation launch games. Sold most of my games round a decade back.

I still have all of my original games I got during the 90's, my oldest would be the 3 in 1 cart that came with my nes action set that has super mario bros/ duck hunt/ track meet. before I had my sega genesis I got a hand me down nes and original brick gameboy from my brother, my second oldest game was super mario land for gameboy that I had at the same time as the nes in 1990.

my third oldest game I have is the original sonic the hedgehog, I got the sega genesis model 1 with sonic the hedgehog set for christmas in 1991 so that was also my first game system that was 100% mine and not a hand me down. I still have the genesis with the original box and it still works great. a big chunk of alot of my games I got during the 90's.

Since I sold my original Master System and NES back in 1990 to get a TG16 I guess my oldest original game is the Altered Beast pack in with the Model 1 Genesis. After that it would be Revenge of Shinobi and then Golden Axe which I got free from Sega for buying the Genesis.

My mom got it for my Birthday oh so many years ago. Brand New from McDonald's Hardware(yes that was the this family's name). But that was back when every small store and even some gas stations(mostly 2600) sold video games.

The earliest game I bought which I still own is Saint Dragon on C64, if we're including hand-me-downs though I have no idea, I have our family's 2600 stuff now, which I played during the 80s but it wasn't mine per se at the time.

Kickstarted my childhood obsession with Spider-Man, when I went to the store I intended to buy an X-Men compendium, but the cover of this Spider-Man compendium caught my eye instead.

My oldest games would have to be my copy of Sonic 1 and 2. Sonic 2 came with my Model 2 Genesis in 1992/1993. I know the Model 2 supposedly came out in 1993, but I could have sworn I had my Genesis with Sonic 2 before I started Kindergarten in fall of 1993 because I remember my Grandmother would play it with me while my brother was at school.

Sonic 1 was originally my Aunts but she gave it to me after I got my Genesis for Christmas. I still have almost all of my original games in my collection. I rarely sell games because I know I'll want to play them again. Only games I sell are ones I flat out hate really.

Well if we're talking about the oldest game that I bought way back when and still own to this day (i.e. not a retro game that I bought recently), then it's probably Sim City 2000 for MS-DOS. At least that's the first one that I really bought consciously and from my own money. I bought the original big-box CD-ROM version of the game for 120 guilders in either '93 or '94, but at the time our PC did not have enough memory to run the game (nor did I know about any methods to save memory), so I had to wait until we upgraded from 4 MB to 8 MB RAM to be able to play the game. In the meantime I had the 120-page manual to read through, which is still an impressive piece of art even today.

There's also a bunch of shareware CD's that I got which are older than SC2000, but I don't see the point in counting those.

The game I've owned longest is either a snes one from the early 90's or a amiga one from the same time.

My NES collection disappeared a couple of times in my youth, probably from my older sister's bastard friends "borrowing" them without asking. The oldest that I remember that I still have was when my mom took me to the local game store on my 10th birthday or so and told me I could grab any (used) game I wanted. I picked Ninja Gaiden II.

I also have a couple of SMB/Duck Hunt carts kicking around, and one of them may have been from 1987 or so (a few years older than NG2) but I don't really know for sure. They seem to be in too good of a condition since I was pretty rough with games when I was a kid.

I still have the original Combat that came with the Tele-games version of the VCS, my family got in 78. It was the only game we had for a whole year.

Hmm, the first game I remember (console wise) getting was the pack in SMB/Duck Hunt for NES. I think the first game I bought straight up with my own money would be the Genesis 2 with Sonic 2. Man I loved that game, played the crap out of it. I rented a bunch as a kid and didn't really have cash to buy the games.

Dunno why, but if I were to get a different Atari VCS/2600 model, I'd want a Sears-brand version. Just something inherently weird playing a console with Sears' name on it.

I need to get Pitfall, Kaboom, Video Olympics, some Paddle controllers and aw hell, tons of more 2600 stuff. It feels restrictive having mostly only Atari-made games... Especially when one game needs the paddles (Warlords).

It would be one of my Atari XE games, bought not too long after I got the system in 1987. Possibly something like Battlezone or Donkey Kong (the Atari 400/800 version).

I had an Atari 2600 before that, but I sold off all the games I had when the system stopped working... which I could kick myself for doing, given some of the games I used to own. But, that's what happens when you never considered that the AC adapter may have been what died, and not the system.
