The Oldest ORIGINAL Game In Your Collection

Most of the games I still have from the 90s are Megadrive games. Plus I still have my orignal Snes and Megadrive / Cd consoles. I'll be sad if they die, probably have to get them fixed - even though I have around 8,000 other MDs and a couple of spare Sneses - because I'm a sentimental foo' about stuff like that. :t:

The oldest games in my collection are actually Snes games: Street Fighter II and Super Scope cartridge. I have most of my original Snes games still :)

As for Mega Drive: Sonic 2, it came with the console. Also still have Mega CD Classic Collection and Sol-Feace/Cobra Command that came with that.

Oh, I have a pile (well, sort of more "heap") of Game Gear games I bought years ago, too - Shinobi, Aerial Assault, Robocod, NBA Jam, Triple Trouble. The boxes are smushed, most of them were when I got them, as they were all £6 or less Blockbuster ex-rentals.

Super Mario Bros / Duck Hunt.

My family sold our Atari 2600/7800 consoles/games to buy the NES (I was in third grade so I didn't have much say in the matter). Since I am the only one in the family really into video games, I got to keep ownership of all the video games we got after that point. Since then I have acquired some of the Atari games I used to have.

Tetris on Game Boy.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it. I guess everybody must've gotten rid of it by now.

Now that I think about it, it's not from my childhood, but my wife has an old 2600 that she and her sister had at her grandma's house back when they were young, and she still has a ton of cartridges, complete with boxes. She's a few years older than me, so they probably date back to 1980 or so.

Funny thing is that the Atari broke when they were children and got thrown in the attic. A couple of years back grandma was cleaning the attic and they brought it all to me, and I fixed it. Something was wrong with the RF signal, but I composite modded it and it worked fine. Although my earliest gaming was on the 2600, there isn't much on the system I can play today. Combat still rules though.

Mine are Space Harrier and Out Run for the Master System (bought on the same day) which I got from Toys R Us. For some strange reason I still have the receipt in the box.

If you don't consider the various Pong-clones as "games", then probably Combat for the Atari 2600, one of the release titles from 1977.

My family still has most of our original Atari 2600 cartridges, starting from around 1979. I had some of them in my possession for a while, but they're back with my parents now, and I've bought my own copies of most of those games. They did have dupes of Air Sea Battle and River Raid that I took and still have, but I'm not sure if those were the copies I had as a kid, or later acquisitions from the late 1980s/early 1990s.

Otherwise, the two I know for sure are Color Baseball and Dungeons of Daggorath for Tandy CoCo, which are both pushing thirty years old (got them ca. 1984 or 1985). I think I actually had a Spidercide cart before I got either of those, but all I have left of that is the manual.

Next in line after that is the NES, and would either be my Mega Man cart, or the mildly warped SMB/Duck Hunt cart I got in middle school around 1989. I think I actually got (and played) MM before SMB, oddly enough.

Probably a tie between 2600 Donkey Kong and Kaboom! Both great games in their own right. Despite all the bashers, I still have a fondness for 2600 DK.

For me, it's my Logic Levels cartridge for C64 which I have had since the mid '80s. It's also the only cartridge I have without its plastic casing. Why? Because a friend bought the game thinking it was for VIC-20. When it didn't fit in the slot, he tore off the plastic. Of course, it didn't work but he gave me the chip since I got a C64 around that time.

The oldest games I have owned are the Odyssey 1 inserts. Those were probably originally bought around 1972-3, a couple years before I was born.

I think that the oldest game I have now is a CD-ROM version of the original FIFA for PC, which I found laying around the house years ago, so I presume it's from either my dad or from one of my relatives (I also have a copy of the PC version of Primal Rage, which I found the same way) Otherwise the oldest would have to be one of my Genesis games, but since I had to throw those away alongside the system that's not the case anymore.

Sonic the Hedgehog. Came with my Mega Drive.

Space Invaders on the Atari 2600, and it's still my favorite.

Oldest: Sonic & Knuckles? It shows a bit.

Newest: Sonic Rush Adventure
