What are your thoughts about E3 so far

Assassin's Creed looks really good, my only issue is the setting, It's got to be the worst choice for a setting, in such a game. Why not the orient, Egypt, Norway, southern Africa, ect, instead the US(could there be any other place in the world, where a traditional assassin would be so out of place tsk tsk tsk. Yea It's "possible" the Free masons tie into the templers, but still, is that single minor fact worth such a bad setting).

That one stage in Rayman looked fun as all hell(interesting concept, it looks like ubisoft mixed their rythm g, and platformers for that stage, which is a awesome idea).

Someone stole Nintendo's idea, no surprise there lol, It's kind of shocking it was MS this time, but to be fair, such a feature really lends its self to Nintendo/MS, but really wouldn't be as useful to Sony(much like motion control, It's a shame MS tried to do it a different way then Nintendo, because it would've been godly for FPS). The upside, "and" downside to MS's spin on this, is they use preexisting handheld devices(smart phones, and such, just dl the app, and you're set), I hope they make a "optional" handheld for people who don't buy into this horrid smart phone trend.

However I predict the Japanese are gonna pine over this, this will be a good chance to get their footing in the Japanese market(that's if MS stops being strict on the genres they let on their system).

Edit: Wow this must be the weakest showing Sony has ever had, this is definitely not what Sony needed(they are doomed).

(drumroll please) the worst opening/trailer for any game ever made goes to BYOND, really wtf was that? Any game with a opening like that, should just be canceled now, It's that bad(I hope the developers weren't expecting people to get excited about the game, with a showing like that, I can't believe they payed money to show such at E3, crappy trailers are nothing new granted, but this is well btond your typical crappy trailers).

The PSP vita continues down the road of failure, by talking about stupid feature like youtube for vita, and other such features. Seriously the only really good thing mentioned for the PSPvita, is the Assassin's Creed bundle (although, with the lack of anything else, I don't see that as reason enough to buy a PSPvita anyway).

E3 in general: what in the mother beep beep beep beep, is all the god damn censoring about in E3 sigh(It's uneeded, and annoying as hell)?

EA just had their showing, it was pretty good as good as sports can be anyway. Joe Montana using the voice reconition was awesome, however to is a glaring issue, It's nowhere near real time, so when you scream out the plays, it takes 5-10 seconds, for the game to actually run it.

Well MS finally did it, I have always said the 360 Isn't a console, but a repackaged standardized/affordable PC, well they finally proved my point. It's a great move fore MS, basically they are effectively trying to replace the PC with the 360 in every home(this may actually work too, if viruses can't effect the 360, and It's harder to hack).

The only thing I'm wondering is, can you DL MMO clients, and play them like with a traditional PC(no word on this yet)?

I keep seeing that Watchdogs video but NOBODY says what system it is on. Not at the Youtube video page, not at UBI Soft's own page, nothing. Am I just supposed to know by default or something?

MS is really damn strong(It's easily their strongest E3), well as far as E3 goes anyway. I can't wait to see Nintendo's main showing(they had to know someone would steal their idea yet again, I mean it happens every damn time lol, so I'm looking foward to seeing what secret plan they have up their sleeves).

At this point you need to wonder if Nintendo purposely showcases stuff early, just to have a chosen idea stolen, so Nintendo can plan someone even bigger to surprise people with.

This was a poor showing by MS. Beyond the Smart Glass (if it's about Windows 8 devices, forget about it) demonstration, their game lineup wasn't that spectacular. I'd say Sony showed better exclusives for the PS3.

I never said their linup was good, It's the same forgettible 360 filler fare, but when you consider that the 2nd screen caters to the type of games the 360 mainly has, on top of which, the 360 "is not" a gaming console(It's a repackaged PC, that can be used to play games), the smartglass(god damn it, MS now, what is it with dumb names these days) is a big deal for the people who would find themselves wantins a 360.

Also this may very well be the big step forward they needed, to get the Japanese to buy the 360.

To Sonic: Yea, that it is, bit I hope they make a optional tablet for it, this way if people just want it for 360, they don't need to buy some dumb device they don't want, in order to use the smartglass features.

This was an awesome showing for MS. Not only do we get Internet Explorer on the 360 (can I get a "Hell yeah!" up in here?) we get even more Kinect stuff. Who doesn't love having Kinect shoved down their throats? MS is demanding that it succeed.

Really though, I'm much more excited for the Wii-U, especially after they showed that Controller Pro and said that games aren't required to use the tablet. That means we can see normal, non-gimmicky games on the system. MS is going full retard with Kinect and Sony is just being Sony so far. It's nice to see Nintendo change direction towards the non-gimmicky, even if it is only a slight change.

Yea, I can't wait to see Nintendo, and what they have in store for the wiiU, I can't help thinking that Nintendo planned this E3 out, even suckering the competition to do what Nintendo wants(really, showing the screen controller off 2 years before release just screams bait), It's bound to be "some" show.

This was Microsoft's "the 360 is not our future" last hurrah. Can't expect much. For some reason they don't want to talk about what's next.

The lineup is an important part of selling your console to gamers. Software wise, MS has had much better lineups at E3.

The 360 is still a gaming console first and a replacement for a media PC second.

The Smart Glass is Microsoft's answer to the Wii U's smart pad controller, much like Kinect was their answer to the Wii's motion controller. If anything, it's Microsoft's way of stealing Nintendo's thunder with any unique idea that can be had with the Wii U controller.

Japan has been a handheld market for quite some time. The Smart Glass isn't going to convince that market to move over to an American console.

Yea like I said in the OP, the only thing they did for the vita, is an Assassin's Creed bundle(a system with pretty much no noteworthy games, getting a bundle with a "single" more then likely good game, is still not enough reason to buy one). If I didn't know Sony was run by morons that know nothing about the industry, I would've sworn they were trying to fail, their decisions/moves are that bad

To Gamevet: what in the history of MS in the gaming industry, would make you think they are a media PC 2nd, they have always been more gunho over this multi media/PC stuff, while basically not even caring about the game library issues(then add to the fact they actually discontinued "DLC" support for older game, which there was no legit reason to do that).

Needless to say, they never really thought of it as a gaming console first, they used gaming to just get themselves in the door of the new market, and then went gunho with all kinds of multi meadia/PC related features.

The 360 is a PC that takes up a 10th of the space of a traditional PC setup, so Japan will jump all over that, there's no doubt(once they realice It's not a console, but a media center, that just happens to play game as well, sales will explode in Japan).

I just watched the conferences for Microsoft and Sony. Is it just me, or does Ascend: New Gods sound too much like the new God of War game?

Given Windows 8's tablet focus, there will undoubtedly be a windows 8 version eventually. For the record, I am beyond hyped about x86 tablets finally arriving alongside windows 8. I had an old x86 tablet years ago, and it was miles better than these toy tablets they sell today. I can't wait to get a full fledged PC and operating system on an ipad or galaxy tab form factor.

The next Xbox and Playstation likely won't be. Remember when it was said late last year that Sony planned to launch their own alternative to cable tv and it would offer ala carte channel selecting? That's absolutely still coming. And that's virtually what microsoft has with Xbox Live. You can get virtually any sports besides the NFL on your Xbox now, along with Netflix, Hulu, and HBO Go. You better believe that focus isn't going away. Neilsen studies have shown that people use their Xbox 360's more to watch media than play games today.

I absolutely welcome this. The current publishing model for television, music, and movies is so far outdated that it's mind boggling. Out methods of distributing media, the primary export of the united states, is rooted in 18th century practices. We absolutely need to start changing the way we interact with media, and the first step is in dethroning the current publishing status quo which have become nothing more than parasitic middle men, siphoning money in a system where their role as media providers is increasingly meaningless and unnecessary.

I really, really don't think they're very similar at all. Microsoft's purpose for its tablet app is entirely different from Nintendo's vision of what the WiiU tablet will be. I don't expect smartglass to become a major part of playing games on the xbox, but I do see smartglass being a major way for Microsoft to extend their mediacenter hub beyond the living room. Remember microsoft's ultimate goal with the xbox project? It wasn't to become the best games maker, it was for microsoft to become the centerpiece to a media hub in your living room. They're getting closer to that vision every day, and I believe the next "xbox" will shed the image it has as a games-first device to get better mass market saturation. Basically, to get people who aren't interested in playing video games, interested in buying their new media box. The next logical step in their business would be to grow beyond the living room.

Nintendo, however, is forever a games first company. They don't share Sony, and Microsoft, and Apple, or even various PC manufacturer's goal of becoming the go-to media hub in your living room. They don't care about slicing into the cable tv pie, or forming their own music delivering system, or any of that. They want to make games. And I think the WiiU controller is primarily a way for them to continue making the kind of games they got good at on the DS, and also to keep up with gaming trends in the mobile sector. I don't think we're ever going to see another piece of nintendo hardware (WiiU Classic Controller obviously excluded) without a touch screen again.

Oh EASILY. The last time I seriously upgraded my PC, like from head to toe, was when Crysis first came out. I am going to build an entirely new top of the line PC for this baby right here. Fuck waiting for Microsoft and Sony, next gen is already here.

This is exactly what I had in mind when Valve was talking steambox spec a while back.

EDIT: Watchdogs on said resulting PC will be glorious, too.

I tried to watch the Microsoft conference, most of it reminded me of those "If Quake/Doom Were Made Today" videos. It made me sad.

Watching Lara Croft brutally beaten, probably to death, by level design really wasn't fun at all.

The original Xbox was a complete failure, so they didn't have their foot in the door yet, but like I said, as soon as they got their foot in the door, they went gunho on the media PC stuff, and ignored gaming.

Yes, but buying a system from a bargin bin/2nd market from people trying to get rid of them, so you can mod it, doesn't help the developer of the system any.

I hope Tomb Raider isn't anywhere near as linear/Uncharted-y as what they showed. Watch Dogs intrigues me. Dishonored is still my most wanted game but it's not the kind of thing you can judge properly by videos. And I guess Sony doesn't want me to buy a Vita anytime soon. Where are the cool games for it?

*edit - I just saw Pikmin 3. Pikmin 2 is my favourite GC game so I'm excited based on that alone. It's kind of sad that the newest game is two hardware generations later and only looks slightly better graphically, though.

I was not impressed by any of them, really. That Watch Dogs trailer does look great, but I hope they resist the urge to make the game 90% shooting. The shooting is not the interesting part.

lol, specs for the WiiU tablet have been released. Battery life is 3 hours, and it takes 2.5 hours to charge the thing.
