Yes, Game of Japan is hit-japan.

Aside from Spaceflea-like ebayers, I doubt that anyone in this forum has bought more items from them than me... In the past.

Two years ago, their prices were about 30-50% of what they are today and they were always kind with me. I got a refund from them when I had a problem with an arcade stick, with no problem. Instantaneous full refund.
However, since the middle of the last year, they became a huge fat nasty dick.

They will treat you always bad and roughly for no reason. Their prices are rocketed and keep going higher every new relist.

Zebbe, it's very interesting that you mentioned exactly Marble Madness.
About a year ago I was crazy looking for the Tengen version and realized that their website had it available on stock for $30 (I remember that this was exactly the price). I tried to buy from the site but I think that they refused to complete the process 'cause I live in Brazil IIRC.
Then, after some months, hit-japan listed it on eBay for $50. I found it a steal (in the bad sense of the word) but got it since I never found any on eBay before and they wouldn't let me buy it from their site anyway...

The change of price would never happen until 2-3 years ago. But now they are doing it all the time. I remember that it occurred to me with a Neo Geo Pad 2 (the one that is compatible with PS1/PS2). After I made an offer they reject it and increased the price in 40%!!!. They are often doing it...
The shipment costs are also often overpriced now.
And the description of the items is false/very bad sometimes (used as new; relevant condition details omitted...).

I'm avoiding them like the plague with the exception when they have a very rare controller that aren't listed in ages. But no more huge hauls like I did in the past.
AVOID THEM AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

It is not unusual with Hit-Japan to have combined shipping cost more than shipping items individually. And there is no telling if you will be sent the pictured item or some tattered junk. This, a million times.
I used to pay like USD4.00 of shipment for each item when buying 6-7 items or more. Now they would charge like USD8.00-9.00 per item, no matter what. Even for fuckin CDs!!!

Now that you mention it, I don't think I've bought from them in the last six months. I always went for them because they were cheap anyway, if that has changed combined with bad customer service I'll avoid them from now on too.

I wonder if the tsunami hit them in some way though.

I think hit japan have become too big,now they dont care about customer satisfaction because like someone else said their volume of sales outweighs any negative feedback.

I used to buy stuff from them about 2 years ago and never had any problems but ive heard bad things since then.

I agree with you 100% and have similar experiences and never really had any problems dealing with Hit-Japan, whether on eBay or on their online shop Game of Japan. And I have bought many items from them in the past 5+ years. I consider them one of the better sellers. If others had problems, then I think those were rare occurences and not the norm.

I only bought one thing off of Hit-Japan and I had some of the best service of any eBayer I've dealt with. It's through Hit-Japan I got my partially-working Sharp Twin Famicom AN-500B (non-working Disk System section), and he was quick to clear the payment (about $150 with shipping) and ship the thing out. I got it 5 days later much as he described it, though it was a lot dirtier than what I had seen on the image (especially inside - it was quite duty). Still, I was very satisfied with the service I got from Hit-Japan (I even sent them a link to my repair log as whoever it was I was speaking to was interested in knowing how I would get the Twin Famicom back up and running in 100% working order).

I didn't think Hit-Japan would pull this off, though. I just hope they don't try to pull this shit off if I were to try and get my hands on a cheap Famicom Disk System game for testing the drive belt I got for the Twin Famicom I bought from them.

They do such large volume there is bound to be multiple people behind "Hit-Japan"

Agostinhobaroners summed it up perfectly. They were always very good years ago, but in the past 12-18 months thongs have changed considerably. I only purchase very uncommon items from them and never large boxes of items like I used to.

One of my favorite communications with those guys was when I made a best offer on a guide book of let's say $20, and they replied "it is very rare" and refused my offer. Then like 2 days later they marked it down 35% so it was like $16. How did that make any sense?

it's disappointing to hear that hit japan has gone downhill, I used to order a ton of stuff from them and always got everything as described but that was back in 2008. would it be worth the risk to order a couple $7 games from them at this point or not?

From what it sounds like, somebody behind Hit-Japan has gotten greedier than usual. I'd bet the sub $10 stuff is below his/their radar. That's pretty much all I buy from them anyway. I have had numerous people tell me that having two DUOs, both from Hit-Japan, fail at the first running of a CDR meant that they were already failing.

a lot of what I bought from them in the past was cheaper stuff as well, I did get a jp grey sega saturn from them in 2008 and it worked fine but I haven't bought from them since then.

it's good to hear the below $10 stuff doesn't get noticed much since I found a few uncommon games in their store for a few bucks, but the long shipping time I read about in this thread makes me very hesitant to order the two games I want.

Yeah, if their shipping times have changed or become delayed I'd look around more too. I used to be able to order from them and get it within the week.

same here, I got my grey sega saturn from them in a week. do you know of any other good japan import stores with cheap ps1 and sega saturn games?

All of the other japan stores on ebay have given me trouble in the past.

Have you guys tried Play-Import? I've bought a few games through them, and whilst a little slow with delivery, they've been good, both condition and price-wise.

I've heard of other people who have had issues when they bought something at a low price, and then hit-japan refused to sell it to them.

I personally have only had one really sunfaded game show up (Linkle Liver Story) and when I emailed him about it he gave me a partial credit on the item. I do use Yamatoku for most stuff though, that guy is pretty straightforward and also lives in Kanazawa where I used to :D
