yeah... But we have to consider that we are mostly talking about stuff with 20-30 years of use. Some problems are likely to happen.

Same thing happened to me (said out of stock) then jacked up the prices. I said you should honor the price that I paid.... nope.
Elemental Master ordered 2 copes at $18. Then after I got refunded they were in stock at $28 a pop.
Suckers! A man with no word is not a man...
I've bought quite a bit from hit-japan on ebay and never had an issue, but I have heard that plenty of people have had problems with the website, I avoid it.
One thing about the ebay prices. They are going up, but if you shoot a decent offer they will accept. As a general rule, if you offer 75% of the BIN price, he will automatically accept it. If you go 50%, you will probably get it if it's not a rare item. I lowballed on a FDS copy of Metroid, it was accepted, then I was pleasantly surprised to find it was complete and in good condition, it only looked like the case and disk in the auction.
I'm really curious about how game prices have escalated in the last couple of years. It really has gone from where I'd buy games I just remembered but didn't really care about because they were so cheap, to where I hardly buy anything because I have to drop twenty or thirty bucks minimum on it. I'm actually glad that I bought all of the games I could remember playing and enjoying back in the day before now, because I'd never buy half of this stuff now.
I got a reply:
I wrote back and told them to remove the "add to cart" from Marble Madness and put "request product" there instead. Because that's how it should be if they don't have any "new stock".Quote:
Dear Customer
Not actually. Previous price was for stock item.
And the current price is for new stock cost which we do not have so far.
Thank you and sorry about that.
One reason Japanese import prices have risen so much recently is also the strength of the yen compared to the dollar. When I was there back in 2005 prices were excellent since the dollar was so strong, but since the dollar has weakened so much importing can be a lot pricier.
I normally stick to a couple sellers who've done me well on eBay. I'll work with others but I'm normally less likely to order a lot or use a them if their pricing/shipping is sketchy.
Well, too bad I didn't read this first, here is my story (repost) I posted on AA...
Okay, just a quick inquiry here. About a week ago I placed an order with www.gameofjapan.com because they had the rare Double Dragon 2 sega megadrive game (CIB) in stock. This was pretty much the MAIN thing I wanted, but due to me only using EMS shipping for overseas orders I decided to order a few other less rare games (5 or so) I wanted to justify the high shipping costs. Basically Double Dragon 2 was the only reason I placed the order.
Well, a week later I was sent an email saying my order shipped and they gave me a refund for Double Dragon 2 saying it was out of stock. I was also given a refund for a CIB Madden football for the Megadrive with the same explanation.
PROBLEM 1 - Double Dragon 2 being out of stock, I wouldn't have placed the order if not for this since I basically paid $35 shipping for some other megadrive games that I wouldn't have paid that much to ship here. I would have at least like to be contacted first since there are a few other higher dollar games I am interested in and could have bought one of those instead
PROBLEM 2 - I was also refunded for Madden Football ($4) claiming it was out of stock...but it is now on there website at a price of $14. Okay, maybe they priced it wrong, whatever I'm cool with that but don't lie to me and say it's out of stock please
PROBLEM 3 - Paid for EMS shipping a week ago, finally shipped yesterday. I can overlook this one since they were probably trying to find DD2 but still, just another complaint I am adding...
How mad would you guys be? As someone who not only buys but sells a lot of stuff I try to keep my complaints to a minimum but I feel this was a little mis handled so I might drop them a complaint email, basically I'm not very happy, lol
If only I would have known, sounds like complaints do nothing, grrrrrrrrr, try a paypal claim to recoup shipping maybe? Probably pointless...
What do you guys think?
Freindly reminder: DO NOT SHOP FROM gameofjapan
Last week, ordered a couple games. Simultaneous with my order confirmation I get another email saying the games are out of stock and a refund will be issued.
A couple days later an email asking for my email address so they can issue the refund. Huh? they already have my email address and payment info. i provide it anyway.
Two days after that I get an email saying the refund has been issued. No it has not.
I email them asking for my refund. no response.
Filed a claim with paypal. Still haven't gotten a refund nor any response from gameofjapan.
HitJapan and gameofjapan = scammers.
They're also one of the big players into driving up to the moon the prices of Japanese games and accessories. They've literally multiplied by TEN the price of some items in the last years.
I've never heard of this company, but thanks for the heads up. I'll avoid doing any business with them.
Personally I just use Noppin for Japanese nonsense. It lets you get at the Japanese general public without having to deal with re-sellers/stores most of the time. As far as Hit-Japan, I've used them so infrequently that I don't have any real experience with them. However I will say that a lot of people have reported that they suck, and bad.
I never had problems with hit-japan when I used to buy from them years ago, and their prices at the time seemed fair. The only slight issue I had was my last purchase, which was a rather expensive copy of Snatcher for the MSX I bought last year. It hadn't been tested properly, and one disc had dirt on the surface which prevented it from reading. I was able to clean the surface of the floppy, and it did restore it to readability, but I shouldn't have had to have done that. That's the only time I've used them in the last few years though, so I can't give much more of an opinion. As has been suggested, perhaps this is a case of a company's growth coming at the price of customer service.
I recommend From Japan for buying directly from Yahoo Auctions JP:

They only charge a flat 300 yen per order regardless of how expensive it is (a lot of other sites charge a percent, which adds up quickly). Of course, there's all the associated payment/shipping charges, but those are unavoidable and not too bad if you order several items at once.
You can order most stuff for a fraction of the price that is posted on eBay. The exceptions are the extremely rare items, which will go for high prices anywhere.
