No. It is much more deliberate than that.
Don't make a sideways defense of these fucks.

First off, I can only go on the experiences I've had, and they were good years ago. So, something has likely changed in the meantime. Secondly, don't try telling me what the fuck I can and can't say. I related my experience and drew a conclusion based upon my own experiences. You want to believe that they're just scam artists because of your experiences, but since scam artists don't tend to last this long, or get as much positive ebay feedback, I'd be more likely to look towards Hanlon's razor for an explanation.
As for the price gouging: IIRC they didn't immediately jump on the bandwagon, which was why I used to buy from them. As much as I hate the practise, it's easy to understand from a business perspective why they'd do it though: why sell items at $X when everyone else is selling at $5X? As long as overpriced items keep selling, they'll keep doing it.
EDIT (Again): The above doesn't excuse them from not honouring sales however. I've no idea about Japanese consumer law, but doing that after accepting payment is certainly illegal in many countries. Quite a few Japanese stores seem "odd" in how they handle orders compared to stores elsewhere; no guarantee of getting stock but demanding payment upfront, banning your account if you cancel a preorder even though they won't guarantee that preorder, shipping costs are a complete unknown until the item's ready to ship, etc. I'm going to hazard a guess that their consumer law's not the greatest.
You come in like an apologist. ..fuck that.
"Oh they used to be good. I've had good experience with them ...except that time they sold me a high priced item which was not as described.. oh but maybe it's just growing pains."
Yeah, fuck that apologist bullshit.
Right now, ongoing - they owe me money. They lied about their stock, they've lied about their refund. They've not responded to communication.
Consider yourself lucky?
I've shopped with HitJapan for over a decade, but stopped a couple years ago when accuracy of item descriptions became a crap-shoot and when shipping rates became inconsistent and often cost more for combined shipping than for shipping items individually.
My experience with HitJapan on ebay was probably one issue for every 10 items purchased.
The point here is Gameofjapan has an established reputation for listing items as in stock, but then cancelling the order, oftentimes to relist the item at a higher price.
And in this current instance, cancelling the order after taking payment, saying they've issued a refund, and not responding to any emails regarding the lack of a refund.
Are you really interested in defending a company that falsely advertises items on their website and lies about refunds?
I agree with you there.
Prince Talmit, I understand you've got an issue with HIT now and you're pissed. I've had mixed luck with them myself over the last couple years and try to avoid them if I can anymore. But I agree with Silanda that they used to be a pretty decent seller, I used to buy a lot of stuff from them and never really had issues until maybe 3-4 years ago.
As for the increases in prices, I'm pretty sure it is the retro bubble helping as well. Importing from Japan has never been easier than it is now, so it makes sense that prices would go up as more people start looking into JP games and accessories (which are almost all region free).
Well when you come into a thread about recurring fraudulent business practices of a seller, and you post that "you've had nothing but good experiences with them", that sure as shit comes off as supporting and defending them.
What's your point? Seriously, what's your point in sharing that if not to defend them?
Yes, after you posted this:
So apparently I'm just supposed to do as you say, and not be at all annoyed about it? What you posted was not respectfully disagreeing, it was aggressively telling me not to say something. You're not a mod, you have no right to tell anyone else what they can and can't say.
Silence! Just use this site and be happy.

Right, that's fine. You want to say the guy who misled and stole money from me is just fine by your experience, I'm going to tell you to stuff it.
My question about aggression was to zetastrike who implied; by his plural declaration, that I was also aggressive toward him.
Case closed.

I've used it for years and never had any problems. They are very professional and charge a simple 300 yen fee on any purchase (saves soooo much money over other sites' percent fee). Of course, you have to pay for international shipping and Yahoo Auctions JP bank fees and such, but you'll have to pay those regardless one way or another when buying from Japan.
