Hagane, what the hell happen?

Don't be so quick to judge it. Hagane is awesome, a true hidden gem. It really shows what RED was capable of BITD, but it isn't better than Shinobi III or worth $100+ freaking dollars.

Wasn't it made by ex-Technosoft people? That's a damn fine pedigree right there.

I don't know if that's the case, but it was developed by RED which made most of the awesome games published by Hudson for the PCEngine, including Gate and Lords of Thunder and the Bonk series. I have never heard that ex-Technosoft people went to RED. I know that Technosoft was still around after the PSX and Saturn came out though, but who knows.

Yes, this is my opinion as well. I don't want to give the impression that the game is lousy or something it just isn't as great as Shinobi III. Hagane is a really good game, I'd even say that it's one of the better action titles on the SNES even, but the price is just nutso. It's uncommon but people are making it out to be a lot rarer than it is.

RED typically did the art/graphics side of game development. That's why you almost always see other companies listed with their games.

I cant believe this auction for Hagane is up to $400.00 now, seriously WTF!?!?

I didn't know that. Someone over a HG101 should do a comprehensive writeup on RED. Never heard of CAProductions either.
