I'd put Eternal Champions on my fav fighting games on md list too, even if I had sf2 and mk on list. Eternal Champions was never hard for me and I liked the music, bios/story, the grainy but good backgrounds and every fighter is different (no ryu/ken wannabees). The hardest "character" in game was the Dragon Eternal Champion, nothing but fireballs, jump kicks that hit you no matter what, flips and if you throw anything at him it goes through him. That phase of EC is a bitch, but the other EC phases and characters are quite easy for me. I can beat the game in 20 minutes. I might do a video on it soon. Of course the Sega CD version was wayyy better but both are not great, but not bad - they are good. I like that one match you need patience and a stay away and time strategy (vs xavier or shadow, the next a more close hard punch and blitz fight (vs blade or slash). Also I liked EC sampled the hardcore sf2 sound fx. The cart seemed liked a demo to cd version and that window was smaller than tv where you see pink on bottom of tv, but all things considered it's not a cheap button masher it's a more vf strategy type fighter. You are rewarded by beating the shit out of opponent once you understand their timing and weaknesses in their fighting style. I was always good at fighting games, so maybe that's why but I like both EC games.
Someone who's actually good at the game! I think I only ever got far in Eternal Champions through sheer perseverance back in the day - continue after continue. Nowadays I'm almost totally useless. :) - I always find that medium strikes tend to work out best for me, particularly with Shadow - they'll either hit or they might even let her get close for a throw...anything fierce always tends to get blocked and viciously countered.
