SPACE HARRIER ONLY
Why the sudden fascination for this series?
Or is it a running gag someplace that I'm not aware of?
is this thread just a stupid bad joke? :confused:
AMSTRAD CPC Space Harrier
The stone heads look cute in this one. ^^;

(Some days I think I could append 'thread over' to nearly- every one of my posts and it would work)
C64 Space Harrier moves quite well, I'd say. And it's got the greatest Video game theme of all-time in SID form, if you like that sort of thing:

Atari 800XL wins this one despite the weird colors. Just listen to those PCM sound effects coming from a 1979 computer... The early genesis games cry in shame.
Left 4 Harrier II
Jesus, whoever did the music on that one should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
There's a lot that could be better on that Space Harrier port. The Amiga really suffered when it came to ports... but it wasn't a hardware problem, it was a developer one. BC Kid (the Amiga port of Bonk's Adventure) is closer to Bonk 2 in graphics and gameplay. Why? Factor 5 and plenty of time. Even the music is better.
Agreed 100% - if only developers had put more effort in, they could have actually come up with better ports.
Care to dip in to some Space Harrier II action? Here's the ZX Spectrum version!

Better than SH1 on the Spectrum?...hmm. It runs quite a bit slower, unfortunately. But it does have music - arranged by Matt Furniss, no less. Also, it has some stupidly clear sound samples. The speed of the music seems to go a bit wild though! I have played it - on the whole, it's thoroughly average for the Spectrum.
I really don't get why that version of space harrier doesn't have graphics in the Savage/Extreme/DanDare3 style. It's already pretty choppy.
The Atari 8-bit version done recently turned out really well.
