If you're looking for Shinobi Legions you might also want to check out the PAL version called Shinobi X which has a completely different soundtrack that's similar to Yuzo Koshiro's style, and much better than Legions' music. Other good titles to look into:
Batman Forever the Arcade Game - a decent beat em up for one or two players
Skull Fang (Import) - a Data East shooter from the Vapor Trail family of games
Strikers 1945 2 (Import) - bullet hell WW2 shooter that will drive you crazy! :D
Fatal Fury Real Bout Special (Import) - a great port of the arcade game
Capcom Generation 2 (Import) - three great ports of Ghouls and Ghosts and Ghosts and Goblins games
Capcom Generation 4 (Import) - ports of Commando, Gunsmoke and Mercs
Capcom Generation 5 (Import) - ports of Street Fighter 2 titles
Neketsu Oyako (Import) - an unusual beat em up with three selectable characters
Thanks for all the recommendations everyone!
I have a few questions about some games that came out on PS1 and Saturn, ie: which version is better, if any. The games I'm wondering about are:
Gex
Pandemonium
Johnny Bazookatone
Hey those Battle of the Ports videos are great! Thanks for that link. Too bad he doesn't have Gex of Johnny in there. I'm assuming though because they're both 2D the Saturn versions are probably the way to go.
Multiplatform games almost always were inferior on Saturn. Mainly because most were written for PlayStation first and ported to Saturn later. Exceptions are games that were written for Saturn first and thus were designed with Saturn hardware in mind - but even then there are many examples were the PS1 version is superior (see Tomb Raider).
Saturn really shines when it came to exclusives and 2D games.
Nope.
This is definitely not true. Obviously there are a good number of games that were written for Playstation first and ported to Saturn later, but that's in the minority. Some games were made for Saturn first, others were ported to both systems from 3DO/arcade/PC/something else. Combined, those outnumber the games made for PSX first and ported to Saturn later.Quote:

Tomb Raider is entirely subjective as to which version is superior. The PSX version has a worse draw distance.Quote:

Plenty of 2D games were on both PSX and Saturn.Quote:

Guardian Heroes. I had a lot of fun with that back when you could still buy Saturn games at Toys R Expensive. I feel that Radiant Silvergun is vastly overrated, and the ending, without spoiling it, defeats the purpose of having played it.
Look, I love Saturn, but Saturn never had a real chance in the West and thus developers focused on PS1 since day 1. Pretty sure that 3D games could have been better on Saturn if developers did their homework, but the fact remains that almost all games were better on PS1.
I feel a good Saturn collection should be built around exclusives, not PS1 ports.
Perhaps a bad example then. Never spend too much time with that game.
Yeah, but there rarely is a noticable difference between the games so it doesn't really matter which platform you buy the game for. In most cases the Saturn version is superior, although in a handful of exceptions the opposite is the case (see Castlevania, In the Hunt)
Of course, this is true. What this generally meant was more Western-developed games on Playstation.
What are you even basing this on? It sounds like you're just assuming.Quote:
