I think it holds up as well as Logan's Run and Soylent Green if not better. Did you know there was a sequel? It's not as good as the original, and has a different kind of story, but it's still interesting to watch.

Yeah, and I didn't think the sequel was as good, either. Sequels often aren't. One movie I saw as a kid I'd really like to see again to see if it holds up was one where astronauts found a mirror world on the opposite side of the sun. I forget the name offhand, which is part of the reason I've yet to see it again. It's probably pretty bad, but I thought it was awesome when I was a kid. Of course, at the time I liked Speed Racer, and Johnny Socko and the Flying Robot, too. :lol:Quote:

Went to the pictures to watch Interstellar. Loved it. Very much in the vein of an Arthur C Clarke style story, though not quite as sober, with all the humanistic impact of the events in the movie being wonderfully played out. One of the best pieces of science fiction I have seen.
I can imagine. I guess you have to be an American to truly understand "Interstellar" because Yanks are the chosen people guys!! In the future where the world is collapsing those corn growing, baseball playing, Bible chanting people have discovered a way of life that will get preserved by God almighty. Big G calls one of those corn growers along with some military tech to the Heaven - yeah baby! The Messiah - hu hu.
From the very beginning we see them re-use those war drones we see today on TV that are doing no good but apparently they can actually feed families because as Sarah Palin thought us "We are on the side of the God" and being in war is being with God - just us whole global warming is God hugging us harder. so to no wonder that's why he opens the heaven, takes the anointed one: the (war?) pilot with ex-killer robots, brings him in to send his commands and corn growing, baseball playing, Bible chanting way of life is preserved for ever and ever in big space stations.
I just feel shitty that I'm not one of those chosen people we call Americans.
For once I didn't think that was the message here, though in retrospect I see where you got it. I just enjoyed the concept, even though I also am not a chosen one! Now Armageddon, that's more on par with the whole "Amuuricah, F**k yeaooh!" thing, which I didn't think was too heavily emphasised here.

Credit to old man for posting about Westworld! I only saw this movie once on television but it made such an impression on me. So this Friday night I made it a point to re-watch it again! It's such a great sci-fi movie! Yul Brynner's stoic cold performance is what makes the movie great! Without him, I don't think it would be as memorable.Quote:

I'm not a fan of remakes but who knows ... As a TV series, this may end up being good! I initially didn't like the idea that they were remaking Psycho into a television drama but Bates Motel, contrary to some, turned out to be a great show!
Finally saw Fury. Everyone told me it was good. Well everyone was lying, has horrible taste or is just fucking stupid. Awful. Some of the worst dialogue I have heard in years.
I watched the first Matrix movie yesterday. The series could have just ended right there for me, I think. There was no need for a trilogy. Am I wrong?
