Zootopia. Watched this one for my niece and was pleasantly surprised. I don't normally care for funny animal movies but the academy scenes were spot on and made me laugh out loud. The moral was a little heavy-handed and the plot was basic but the action and comedy were good. I give this one a solid "B" (for Bunny :mrgreen:).

and now even more suspicious of the internet. Edit: Yeah, no really was always. Never trusted the stuff that I find on my computers and some of what runs in the backround. Edit2: Also strongly dislike all of this biometrics software being used, every time I see a camera hidden or not (and I find them naturally fairly easy as I use to put them up and know the tricks to hide them) I want to rip them down and smash the snot out of them or at the least give it a 🖕.

One of my favorites of the year, and the first Oliver Stone flick I've thoroughly enjoyed since the 90s. That being said, it's been an awful movie year. Some good movies here and there, but hardly anything I'm dying to own on blu ray.Quote:

Well, that was fun. I like the cinematography on the fight scenes (seems like most of Hollywood forgot how to do hand-to-hand combat and gunfights, making them hard to follow with quick confusing edits and way too many close-ups), the simplicity of the story and how many good character actors signed up for what is essentially a throwback to a 90s-style action movie.
Also, the Russian mafia was funny as hell. Seeing them call Keanu Reeves "baba Yaga" with straight faces was just hilarious.
^yeah. I heard Baba Yaga, but didn't look it up until I played Rise of the Tomb Raider on the PS4.
It's like having a Jean-Claude Van Damme or Dolph Lundgren character being called "The Wicked Witch of the West" with the most awestruck tone as if it's the most badass nickname imaginable, it's just comedy gold.
I just watched Sully, awesome movie. I had previously read about it in a few books, and I'd seen the usual reports on the TV, but it was still worth seeing.
Now they need to make a movie about the 1982 BA flight 9 incident, I have to wonder why they haven't already.
Also everyone should watch Moonlight.
Watched Ghoulies last night. Had to do a tape transfer, but it was worth it. Instant classic. Need to track down the other three now.
Hehe...I bought one of those cheapo horror collection DVDs that included Ghoulies 3, Waxwork, 976-Evil 2, C.H.U.D 2, The Unholy, Chopping Mall, Slaughter High, and Class of 1999. I bought it for Class of 1999, but it ended up being a goldmine of 80s and early 90s cheese.Quote:

I watched Predator 2 yesterday for the first time since my teens, bloody awful! It had that weird late 80s / early 90s vibe with stuff like the cops' guns having laser sights on them for an an inexplicable reason, but included because it 'looked cool.' Other stuff too, like made up technology, that just gets in the way.
The first one was great because it was just guys with conventional means; though I since learned that the handheld use of 'Old Painless' is totally impossible!
Really good special effects in places though, the invisibility always looks fantastic, and the whole realisation of the creature still doesn't look fake at all. Stan Winston was a master of his craft and Predator was his best work in my opinion, never looked fake at all.
The newer physical effects in more recent outings were good, but not nearly as good as his.
What did everyone think of AVP? I actually really enjoyed it, I liked the main heroine and really enjoyed the scenes whereshe and the predator had to work together.
Really looking forward to this one, it looks a bit like Contact. One of my favourite movies that grapples with its concepts fantascally.Quote:
