I just watched the first Ghostbusters on Netflix. Further proof the 80s were the best decade for films ever. So many great franchises born and/or improved on.

The 80's was also a great time for remakes of 1950's sci-fi/horror classics for some reason. You had John Carpenter's remake of The Thing, which is a masterpiece, you had Cronenberg's remake of The Fly, another excellent film, and there was also a really good remake of The Blob made in the late 80's which I highly recommend.Quote:

Ah yes, Invaders from Mars! I forgot that one. The 80's remake of that film was, I think, directed by Tobe Hooper of Texas Chainsaw fame. I like both the original Invaders from Mars and the remake. Those people sinking into the quicksand and acting strange whenever they went over the hill to investigate really got to me as a kid.Quote:
