Just got back from watching Deadpool 2; was great fun. No spoilers from me though, except a hint if you go to see it - keep an ear out for one of the character's name, if you know you're comics, it'll be a big clue to who shows up later in the film. ;)
Spike Lee's Bamboozled. Interesting movie. Satire that people are too dumb and immature to understand, much like Starship Troopers.
Ready Player One. One of my friend's many part-time jobs is at a theater so she invited me to see this for free. The hype for this movie was big but I was not impressed. The nostalgia factor meant nothing to me. I mean, you can go online and watch anything you can imagine for free now; Star Trek vs. Star Wars, Air Wolf vs. Knight Rider, The Hulk in Duel, etc. So this really wasn't special. Maybe twenty years ago it would have been cool.
I hated how they represented VR. Goggles and gloves? Treadmills and body-harnesses? Sorry, but there is no way that could translate into the virtual world that they showed us. It would have to either be some kind of holo-deck or mind-jack technology. I mean, it's fiction so why not go nuts? Tron's explanation is not really all that believable but it still OWNS this.
And the story was boring. This is yet another poor orphan that is actually the chosen one.

Also, his best friend actually being a woman was not that surprising as the poorly-disguised voice gave it away. It's another movie-cliche anyways, like how almost any mysterious character that rides a motorbike wearing a full-face helmet turns out to be a woman, too. It was a real missed opportunity, anyways, I mean here is a woman that he is best friends with, they even finish each other's sentences, yet they don't end up with each other? Fail.
And the girl he does fall for? She's "disfigured". Really? She was cute and the birthmark did not take away from it at all. In fact, they spent most of their time in V.R. with even stranger looking people anyways. Another fail.
The puzzles. You honestly expect us to believe that gamers have been failing at this game for six months and no one ever tried driving backwards? Even just out of frustration? FAIL. :fail:
Perhaps the most interesting part to me was "the stacks". Their real world. But there was not really much about that part.
The movie I remember watching most recently? Con Air. On VHS.

My brother worked on that film and I have still yet to see it.
Con Air is amongst the first batch of movies I watched on the then new "DVD" format.
Going from VHS to DVD (LaserDisc had an extremely small presence here) I was blown away by it. And that movie was kickass. Steve Buscemi's character was awesome.
Haven't seen Con Air since the 90s when it came home to the movie network, but do remember I wasn't impressed. Wasn't a Nicolas Cage fan back then, but now he's like infamous and I've actually binge watched a few of his recent movies just over a year ago.
I do remember that line. Take it it's Lynard Skynard, but which song?
The Young Tiger on late-night Kung Fu theater. It was supposed to have Jacky Chan in it according to the TV guide but I didn't see him. Not a great movie and the fighting was weak. Another odd thing was the funky instrumental version of Led Zeppelin's The Immigrant Song over the opening credits. Somehow I doubt they purchased the rights to such a popular-at-the-time song for a B-movie. :yuck:

Evolution (2001) starring David Duchovny (The X-Files). I guess nobody would let Ivan Reitman make Ghostbusters 3 after the awful last sequel. Anyways, I couldn't help making comparisons like, oh, this is the Bill Murray part, or that would be Dan Akroyd's part. :fail: The action is lame and it just wasn't funny. There was only one good scene in the whole movie:

Usually, I would say "spoilers", but in this case, I will say "your welcome" for saving you two hours that you'll never get back. And unfortunately, there isn't anything else like this in the rest of the movie, so yeah, that's it.

Evil Genius on Netflix (trial). This is a four-part documentary about the Eerie, PA Pizza Bomber case. I'm not really interested in reality-crime shows but I remember this one because a friend in LE showed me the video back around the time it happened. There is a lot more to this case than I knew about, though probably at least some of it is available from news reports without watching this show. It's a disturbing true-story so be warned if you decide to watch it. I can't really recommend it, though, because it does not really close the case of the murder of Brian Wells. It also tries to be "uplifting" about the actually tragic aftermath of the Wells-Hoopsick relationship.
