I showed a buddy of mine Good Will Hunting, and he loved it. I was surprised he never got around to watching it.
So, at 3AM we got bored and went on IMDB and printed out that Top 250 list. Now we're going to make it a life goal to eventually view every film on the list as of today.
Ordered the Critters DVD box set with all the movies. Fucking stoked.
Useless update: We mentioned to a few friends our previous 250 Film idea, and now it's a Facebook group. I've got almost 50 people who want to do this also! I'm a trendsetter obviously.
So how about another update, we could use knowing what the 250 film idea is unless you posted it before.
Cabin Boy followed by Time Bandits. I haven't seen either one in 15 years or so. I enjoyed them but my head sorta hurts now.
I saw The Spirit, Mercury Man and Halloween 5 recently.
The Spirit: Funny, but oh my...
Mercury Man: One of the two films that actually made me want to die. The other film was the Star Wars Holiday Special.
Halloween 5: What the...seriously, Loomis was nuts in this one... "Let's play a game, Michael! Catch the little girl!"
Terry Gilliam is awesome. Brazil is one of the best films I've ever seen. I am so glad he fought to keep the film as he intended, and didn't kowtow to the studio heads.
In the last 3 days I have seen
Empire Strikes Back
Ong Bak 2
Apocalypse Now Redux
The Fly II
I've seen ESB like 50 times, but the others were all new to me. The best of the lot was Apocalypse Now, but Ong Bak 2 has probably the best fight scenes in any film that I have ever seen. There's not a whole lot to say about The Fly II except that some dude gets his face melted off by fly vomit. If you want to see a dude get his face melted off you could do worse (although you could also do better, as Cube contains a similar scene but is 90% more enjoyable over all).
Good weekend for movies.
Rashomon.
Brüno
It was worth seeing it if for no reason other than watching 20+ people walk out of the theater in the first 15 minutes.
You should scrap that idea and just watch all the movies at badmovies.org before you die. It would be way more impressive knowing that you made it through troll 2 (which pwns goodwill hunting) and you would gain far more sinister powers of wisdom and sarcasm.
I simply love cabin boy. " These pipes are clean!!!"
The movie I just watched is that new Judd Apatow movie about the kid who works as a carny at an amusement park. Fuck I can't even remember the title. I watched it online like the pirate I am. There were some laughs but its definitely not a classic imo. It wasn't horrible either though. I find these kinds of film to be a little boring and reliant on really lame unorigional gags, but I guess thats what our generation likes, boner and fart jokes and the cliche romance theme, 1 oh boy meets dream girl has really amazing relationship start to form while zany buddy characters add padding to the otherwise boring premise. 2 Oh no, boy screws up and loses everything and his life is so boohoo. 3 Oh wow, boy triumphs over evil forces and hey way to get that dream girl back... I'm just so tired of that formula. Is that what today's version of romance is, pretty pathetic really. I also hate how hollywood movies love to use a death around the main character as an excuse for you to feel empathy, oh man his wife died that's so tragic, now he has to spend his life a tortured soul. :daze: Give me a break
Did I mention that Year One was pretty mediocre? That was probably a month ago by now though.
