Perpetual Movie Thread/What was the last movie you watched?

Red Heat - A throwback to when movies didn't involve some annoying kid or woman to be saved in order to complete the story. It also has a strange feel to it, with no real comedic feeling even though Belushi was probably supposed to be the comic relief. You end up rooting for Arnold only because he is Arnold. His character really doesn't speak much and you can't really relate to his character. Some of the steps in the story seemed like a waste, such as meeting with the drug dealer and not really accomplishing anything. Overall it was an OK movie and apparently the first time a film crew was allowed into Red Square to film footage. Although the only footage is Arnold standing in his uniform at the end, and the marching in the beginning but I'm not sure if those were actors or not. All the other scenes that took place in Russia I suspect was actually shot in Belgrade, as mentioned in the credits.

If you want at least a little more of a taste of anime films that can appeal to non anime fans, go find Ninja Scroll for some bad ass feudal Japan action scenes.

Anyway, I ended up seeing Jack Reacher last night at the last minute. The trailer makes it look like a vigilante film, when it's really about Tom Cruise playing a drifter Sherlock Holmes. Still really well made, with a couple extended action scenes with no dialogue, just atmosphere and tension. Warning though, it's fairly straightforward, and you realize you've seen it before partway through. Still satisfying as hell though.

The original 1931 dracula movie to me, it was a good movie with a lame ending

Today I had a marathon viewing of all four of the Futurama movies. A very well spent morning and afternoon, I would say.

The Possession: Good film. Typical and predictable, but still enjoyable. I liked the new take on the average exorcism movie with the new Jewish angle.

Last night it was Roger & Me. I've seen it before at a friends house but not really paid attention to it. What is there to say?

I also attempted watching a second movie, the remake of Little Shop of Horrors. I remember liking the play and have seen the movie a long time ago but... OMG THE SINGING! MAKE IT STOP! I hate musicals. It lasted 5 minutes before I turned it off.

Killing them Softly: Nice! Finally some random underdog of a film. Just what I needed. What else you got? :D

I've been watching Heat. It's got a massive cast of awesome actors and looks like it could be one of the all time greatest action movies, but the whole thing is just one big sappy love story. What a disappointment.

So I watched the first Mortal Kombat movie recently. It sucked like I expected.

Hmmm a lot of people think its one of the better video game movies.

The second one sucked badly, though.

Soldier - Its was an interesting movie. Kurt Russell said very little. It covered the difficulty of a programmed soldier trying to make it in a non-combat scenario. The most powerful pair of scenes has to be when he tries to show the mute kid how to kill a snake by tossing a boot to him, and then making movements with the other one. The kid's mom kills the snake and they kick him out of the village because they thought he was negligent to the kid because he didn't go after the snake himself. Later on, another snake enters the parents' bed and the kid kills it with a boot. Another interesting scene was when Kurt sees the wife and the camera pans to the breast area. LOL!

The back write up I didn't read until after seeing the movie. It mentions "mammoth" crawlers... which aren't really mammoth. They are probably the size of a small tank from WWII era. They reminded me of a vehicle from another movie but I can't place it. The front cover features an aircraft carrier which didn't appear in the movie from what I could tell. Also it features space ships shooting. While a spaceship of that design did appear, there was not multiples and there was no sort of shooting from them or combat of any type. In the movie they appear as troop carriers.

I'll be keeping it for a display item.

I was glad to hear that the Silmarillion (sic) was used to create the Hobbit. Lord knows how long THAT movie would have been!

Django Unchained: Damn fucking entertaining, that's what it was. I know Tarantino is not one for sequels, but damn, I can't wait to see what this leads into. That was fun. :D
