The Jewel of the Nile
Just for shits and giggles I played it on my CED video disc player. This movie happened to be the very last film released for that video format.

The Thirteenth Floor: Some twist at the end... but all the clues were there about halfway through, I should have figured it out sooner. But even so, at the end it still could have been open ended? It definately was not what I thought it would be about, based on the trailers I've seen when it came out.

Saw Pink Flamingos the other day. Not much to say about it, other than the fact that it is one fucked up movie. And I love it.
Oz the Great and Powerful- Yeah it was pretty awful. Wouldn't recommend it.
I just saw Spring Breakers. It was surprisingly enjoyable. James Franco is freaking awesome in it and pretty much makes the movie.
Watched The Croods.
Story-wise it wasn't really anything new, but I quite enjoyed some of the bizarre animal crossbreeds, some of which reminded me a bit of "the Last Guardian".
I just finished watching "The Grey" starring Liam Neeson.
What a fucking depressing movie.
It's the very first film I've streamed off Netflix, and this is what I go and choose?
Just rewatched the 2001 animated version of "Metropolis".
Seriously LOVE the animation on some parts in this movie :D

We watched Man of Steel yesterday. I enjoyed it but can't disagree that it was way too much CGI and what seemed like superfluous action sequences. That alone doesn't usually bother me, I loved the end of Avengers for example not to mention the original Superman 2. But shaky cam with focus unfocus "effects" combined with tens of minutes long computer generated scenes didn't really do it for me.
Still the scale of the battles and destruction were impressive and I don't think I've seen that attempted before, not even in a Bayformers movie. But then, I don't see why the Internet hates the new Green Lantern movie or Superman Returns.
I'll give this a little bump with some of the movies I've recently seen.
Leon Morin, Priest - Awfully boring film. Melville should stick to Le Samouraļ and Belmondo should stick to Pierrot Le Fou.
Close-Up - Great and gripping film that brings up the subject about being someone else and trying to live as a diffrent person. Don't miss this one!
Cairo Station - A simple and slow yet effective drama with a good presentation of its characters as well as a rewarding ending.
Saw Pacific Rim over the weekend. Was hoping for a simple popcorn movie with almost no story and lots of big things beating up other big things with some explosions. Every now and again I like a movie that does that kind of thing well.
For the most part it delivered, but they threw in an unfortunate and obligatory romance subplot that had no need to be in the movie at all. They could have used the time devoted to that to show another big fight, or even just make the movie a bit shorter.
The effects were good, there was much destruction to be had all around, and these were no rubber suit Godzilla fights... the impacts on both the robots and monsters really felt substantial.
Story wise... lots of plot holes, stupid logic jumps (or fails), and other such things... but it's a movie with giant monsters and the giant robots that love them. Anyone that was expecting a deep and involved storyline was likely in the wrong movie line.
I'd love to see a big budget sequel or prequel with more emphasis on the big fights, or at least an extended edition showcasing more of the fights and even some of the other story that was glossed over in the film.
The Factory.
Total BS attempt at a serial killer type movie.
At least that ridiculous plot twist right at the end was good for an unintentional laugh.
"I Spit On Your Grave" (2012 version?) What a shit movie, I don't know why I sat myself through it. Knew every word, and everything that was gonna happen before it did without ever seeing it. So dumb. I fucking hate this genre.
"The Lone Ranger" (2013) Entertaining movie! Humorous, political undertones that pander to my own views... always like Depp in pretty much anything.
After how awesome Romancing the Stone was, I guess I'd had higher hopes for Jewel of the Nile :/
Mulan and Mulan II back to back. Mulan is one of the better Disney animated movies to me, and the direct to video sequel was surprisingly decent. Not quite up to snuff with the original, but definitely better than OTHER direct to video sequels like, say, Hunchback of Notre Dame II.
The Double
Richard Gere is not one of my favorite actors but I always like to give a spy/thriller flick a chance. I wished I hadn't with this one, though.
At the end of it I felt like this is the type of movie you've seen a thousand times before, and sometimes a thousand times better.
A movie constructed from basic parts at the Used Screenplay Store.
