I've tried to watch Miyazaki films but they're all over my head and I can't get into them so I end up making MST3K style wisecracks until my friends kill me. I'm more into really corny retro-anime though, mostly because I grew up with it.
I saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith the other day, it was pretty much nonsense but there was enough mindless action and goofy puns to at least keep it interesting occasionally. It had a really slow start as well. I wouldn't reccommend it.
V for Vendetta is one of my new favorite movies. A story that flows nicely, even with a couple slow parts. Awesome visuals, and the underlying, current messages make it even better.
I could do without the Wachowski's manipulating comic book stories to preach to the masses whats right and whats wrong. Still want to see it though at least for the eye candy. Had enough of their multiculturalist nonsense with the Matrix movies to last an eternity, but it was good for sensory overload.Quote:

I like these modern kung-fu movies where the storyline is actually intriguing enough to keep your attention in-between fight scenes. Plus, Zhiyi Zang is so freaking smoking hot isn't she?
Get this, I watched Heavy Metal for the first time this weekend. lol. This was just crazy, I really liked it. Gratuitous violence and sex/nudity...what more can a guy ask for?
Also watched Rambo III for the thousandth time...love this flick.
I'm dissapointed with King Kong, I thought it was just too much....everything. I thought just about every character was horribly miscast, and I have no interest in Naomi Watts whatsoever....I thought Jessica Lange played up that part alot better in the '76 version. Then there was the bug scene in the pit....yeah I get it by this point, everything is supposed to be huge...got it Peter Jackson, can we please move the movie forward now? uhgg....just didn't care for it too much.
Freaks: The movie seems to be alot of random scenes thrown together, but the last 15-20 minutes make this just an awesome movie. The ending has a real Hitchcock-like feel to it. After I watched it, I found that the movie was actually a 3rd longer, but it was so disturbing (well, for 1932) that alot was cut, making this only a little over an hour long, and it explains why it feels to choppy.
I just found my Maximum Overdrive DVD, but I remember the opening scene with the bridge being a bit more bloody and chaotic. And that was on TV, oddly enough.
That steamroller and the sodamachine crack me up. Such a cheesy, but great film.

Hahaha.. Maximum Overdrive. Quite a film. The blood-smeared ice-cream truck stalking the neighbourhood is just awesome.
Scary Movie 4 is sorta short, but still funny as hell! See this now!

Silent Hill this Friday!!!!!!!!
Silent Hill's looking pretty sweet, I must say.. after playing through Silent Hill 2 not long ago and becoming obsessed with it to a certain degree, I'm very eager to see this madness brought to life. Those Nurse Demons near the end of the trailer.. ah jeez, awesome.Quote:

The flick was very good (taking into consideration it is a video game movie). I really enjoyed it a lot. Kicked Resident Evil's ass! (just as the video games did too... hee hee).
I was amazed at how many children were there to see the film... check this. First off they only scheduled 2 matinees and 2 night showings at ONE theatre in my ENTIRE CITY OF WEST PALM (some suburbs were playing it)... they must of had low expectations or something. So now I ended up all the way in the front row staring neck crooked... luckily I wasn't one of the poor chaps having to lay on the ground though. Then there were 8 and 9 year olds sitting all around us... I mean shit these kids weren't even alive when Silent Hill one came out! (and that is pathetic)
The kids are all like "I wanna see the baby's! I wanna see the baby's!" from the start of the movie... which I will say the beginning is top notch on the mark kinda shit... the parents are just like "shhhhhh"
then it happens... the kids piss their God damn pants. You could tell the parents were asking themselves what came over them to let their child watch this movie... not that the RATED R wasn't a damn sign!
Oh... and something really cool (though kinda is cutting corners) they used the entire Silent Hill 2 soundtrack for the movie... I found that very cool and authentic feeling.
Silent Hill. Ho-ly shit. What a movie. There were parts of that film that stand out as being some of the most intense I've seen. That being said, there were a few awkward moments that killed the mood, but the good bits easily overtook that.
At any rate.. I went to see it with three friends of mine who were completely unfamiliar with the franchise, and they all enjoyed it (mind you, two of them are gorehounds). Point being, even if you know nothing about the Silent Hill games, yet you crave some nightmarish tension, you can do no better right now in the theatres than Silent Hill. Watch it! Do it!
...but aren't most R-rated flics basically PG/PG-13 movies with a few R-rated words, that may feature one or two topless shots of an actress, in hope of attracting an adolescent audience with their R-rating?Quote:

...and about parents who brought their young children to see it.. irresponsible. There's no excuse for being ignorant to a film's content, as movie trailers and film reviews are everywhere. Assuming that an R-rated film will be suitable for children because it's based on what they presume to be an innocent video game further proves that many parents are blissfully unaware of what their kids are playing.

I finally got around to watching National Treasure with Nick Cage, and it was a lot better than I thought it would be. I love these treasure hunting flicks, and since Harrison Ford is probably going to have to film Indy 4 while on leave from the nursing home, this is some welcome fun.
I saw The Da Vinci Code, having not read the book. It was decent. I liked how nicely the plot was coming together as it went on.. but the ending was lame. Regardless, Audrey Tatou is fucking amazing and I'll watch anything with her in it.
I watched The Da Vinci Code myself recently. An entertaining ride, but absolutely fucking absurd. The plotline is simply a mess, although the continuing discussion throughout the film of controversial religious theory is rather fascinating. It's an enjoyable film if you turn off the brain, but the movie falls to pieces if you make even the faintest effort to question it.
The last movie I watched was Alejandro Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain, and it certainly lives up to its name as one of the strangest movies ever made.
Warriors of Heaven and Earth: I fell asleep 2/3 in. Edited very poorly especially the fights. I kinda just felt like I was watching standard B-movie fare.
Chinatown.
I can see why this is considered a classic, but I just didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Still well done though.
I've watched V For Vendetta and Mission: Impossible 3 over the past few days. V was one stellar show.. very entertaining, a visual feast, and even mentally stimulating, as one can draw many a political parallel to the current state of the U.S.A.. M:I3 was a good show.. predictable "twists" and fairly absurd overall, but a good show. Well done action and solid acting, although as a villain, zany Davian is such a completely overdone evil man archetype.
Spongebob movie- cuz its spongebob and sponge bob is really coolio.
and i dunno anymore movies i like.
Darth Maul's lightsaber abilities rocked hard... Yeah, I cast my vote for that one as the best duel ever. Even RotSith couldn't beat it.
First off I can't believe how many people in this movie that I recognized. Harrison Ford, Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, etc. This was a good movie and something George Lucas did pre-Star Wars. It's hard to believe that the same man that did the Star Wars movies did this great movie too. The movies are both good, but completely different. I reccomend this movie to anyone that likes watching movies.
Saw a LOT of movies over the past couple of days, so I'll keep it short:
Animation -
Walace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit - Absolutely LOVED it.
Chicken Little: Good. Not GREAT but good.
Corpse Bride: GREAT!! :D
Final Fantasy - Advent Children: Technically Superb, but otherwise mediocre...
Live Action -
Pink Panther - Okay. Not bad, but not good either.
Silent Hill - Good. I wasn't really horrified, but other than that, I liked it.
The Ring 2 - GREAT. Scary, twisted, and to some extent unpredictable.
Dhoom - Better than Doom.
X3 - Absolutely HATED what they did to Juggernaut. Aside from that it was OK.
Glengary Glen Ross- Want a LOT of talking? Here's your movie. Most of the movie takes place in one scene, which makes it feel sorta incomplete, but the idea works. I liked the dialouge, but it just kinda ended with out an ending, sorta.
Nacho Libre: I LOVE this movie! Jack Black is awesome, and for some parts I honestly forgot it was him playing the lead. Except for the singing in the lockeroom scene ,which seemed to just be thrown in to let Jack mess around a couple minutes. Better than Napolean Dynamite, who was made also by Jared Hess.
I just saw Memoirs of a Geisha last night. It's a pretty good movie. If you've read the book you're sure to understand more and know what's going on better, but that's with about every movie that's from a book. If you've read the book this'll be pretty enjoyable, but not as memorable. Even if you haven't read the book you'll probably enjoy this movie. This is one of those good, but in my opinion, not great movies.
I just saw Superman Returns today. It's a pretty good movie and it's supposed to be replacing the third movie. So if you watch the first two Superman movies and then you watch this one it comes off as a pretty well done sequel. All of the actors are good, but Brandon Routh and Kate Bosworth can't ever make you forget the performances of Christopher Reeves and Margo Kidder. I reccomend this movie to anyone who is a fan of the Superman movies or just comic book movies in general.
Waiting: Funny movie that gets slow in some spots. It works better if you've actually worked in a restraunt. Also, thanks to this movie Beakmans world will never be the same.
Click: This is one of the best movie to come out this year. 2/3 is comedy, but then 1/3 of it starts to get all serious, but it still works. It doesn't get too overdramatic (maybe the hospital scene at the end was) but I actually started tearing up during one part. Probably the first time a movie has made me cry, and an Adam Sandler movie no less.
Amadeus. Bonafide classic that I've never seen until yesterday. Wow.
Vertical Limit(Superbit edition): I bought this because of the sheer awesomeness of the visuals and I got just that with this Superbit version. It's not a boring movie, nor a horribly acted one. It's ridiculous in that they carry nitroglycerin up a mountain, and get slammed around a helicopter without the stuff blowing up, but the movie is alot of fun. Maybe I have more fun with it because I enjoy it on a 51" HDTV...I mean, big tv's really do make movies better.
I just watched Anger Management!! Its a pretty good movie.:cool:
Toy Story 2: First time I've ever seen it. I really enjoyed the movie. Got to love Pixar! :D

Green Street Elite(instead of Elite is Hooligans in america) Great movie. All about English football frims and Reps. I highly reccommend it to all.
Toy Story rocks...too bad the 3rd installment is dead.
