I have always been a big computer gamer. With the internet's tendency lately to rewrite the '80s and early '90s almost solely in Nintendo's image, I feel it's more important than ever to keep the great 8-bit/16-bit computer game appreciation alive.
The fragility of magnetic media sucks, though. Around a decade ago, I found many of my old C64 disks and tapes didn't work anymore. Now the couple C64s I own power up but have no picture. I guess the video chips died.
I still buy Atari 8-bit and VIC-20 cartridges but most disk-based stuff I just emulate now.
