A new Ecco could be in the works!

The creator of Ecco the Dolphin has announced he is meeting with Sega to discuss a new title in the aquatic adventure series.
Ecco mastermind Ed Annunziata revealed the news via his Twitter account (via VG247, and added that publisher interest made the chances of a new game multiply by a hundred.
"Chances of a new Ecco the Dolphin x100!" he excitedly wrote.

And it won't sell to this braindead COD generation. The day when cod superseded dolphins!

Didn't he say before that he'd even be willing to finance a new Ecco game on his own if Sega would just license the damn character to him?

I really hope this happens. I think it'd have the potential to do well, just not as a standard retail game. A new side-scroller in the vein of the Genesis games for XBLA/PSN, on the other hand, definitely has a chance.

Provided this Ecco game turned out to be awesome like the first two and not tosh like Defender of the Future then I can see myself weeping tears of joy.

Praise Raul for inspiring somebody to contemplate a new Ecco game.

Personally, I can't wait to hear what Spencer Nielson will come up with for this game. :ok:

Deep down, we all know that even if this gets made, it's probably going to suck.

I hope he continues the Ecco story, but Sega probably doesn't even remember the old Ecco games so would never allow it.

Ecco? what's that? continue what story? Neh, make it a phone tablet touch screen puzzle game for little kids, little kids love dolphins!

The first two Ecco games are gold. Defender of the Future is not as good, but still decent. Ecco Jr. was rubbish though.

This is awesome news. Loved all of the Ecco games. Even Ecco Jr. was fun to play with the kids. Hopefully this will be a true 16 bit sequel to Tides of Time.

And Spencer Nilsen is doing the music? Holy crap, that's awesome. Love the Sega CD soundtracks of Ecco 1 & 2. I like the chiptunes as well, but I played the Sega CD versions first.

Well, before they can make the game they've got to drag Ecco from the gay cove. Rumor has it he likes to go bass-to-mouth.

the dreamcast ecco game is very good. but it starts of a bit poor and it's hard(harder in a different way than the 16 bit games). but in later levels it really shines through. I wonder how many of the people who don't like ecco on the dreamcats have actually finished it
