Will the Wii U die even quicker than the Wii?

Let this poll remain for future reference. Naturally I chose Yes, given how Ninty depends on gimmicks to stay in the game. The Wii proved a major disappointment; while the PS360 still receive some quality outings the Wii is all but effectively a dust magnet.

Maybe because we like retro games, but I dont like that controller at all. It looks like a portable console to me. I guess to the younger crowd its probably looks neato. It doesnt look like Ill be able to get used to it from playing regular controllers all these years. The fact that WiiU its not significantly more powerful than the XBox360 and PS3 could seal its fate.

This thread is a joke, right? Whilst I despise over 99% of the shovel-ware ridden library of the Wii, it is probably the best selling console of all time. If the Wii U is even half as successful as the Wii before it, it should be more than enough to retain its mainstay in the market.

Despite selling well, it still croaked pretty quickly. All those millions of Wiis sold are now millions that have been gathering dust for a long time now.

I don't see Wii U faring much better with their over reliance on gimmicks and long tradition of horrible 3rd party support.


Edit: I've also heard those tablet controllers will cost around $75'ish. Yeah....good luck with that....

More like around $99.99 to $119.99 (the conversion from Japan puts it at a little above $120).

It's bad enough I gotta look at my tv screen but now gotta look at my controller.

The console will only support 1 controller till they update the firmware to support 2 from what I've heard.

The Wii had four good years, followed by a year and a half of thin but occasional high-quality releases. Sounds like a quite normal lifecycle to me.

The more I learn about Wii U, the less I want one.

The Wii was a pop craze that flamed bright for 3 years and burned out quickly after. I see used Wiis (boxed) selling in pawn shops and used book stores for $50. I don't see any reason why the Wii U will have that kind of success, without some magical piece of software from Nintendo.

It's pretty sad when the best selling software/hardware for the Wii was Wii fit.

I like to think of it as a console equivalent of a fad. Nintendo lured in the gullible consumer with its marketing and shallow gimmicks, and once the hoopla was over, it just fizzled out.

Proof the masses will buy anything as long as it has a great ad campaign and the right gimmicks behind it. Sad.
