Very true. SGX+SuperCD is my main development system for PCE/CD stuffs. But I would probably piss off some people if I made it SGX exclusive. There's also the option of using Populous hucard layout; 4megabit + 32k ram. Though I think TG Everdrive is the only flash cart to support that rom layout (even some emulators wouldn't support it outside of the original game itself. Probably a hash check). I know mednafen looks for the Populous text string at a certain part of the rom, but it does support 8megabit+32k ram if found.
Yeah games that exclusively run on one type of flashcart or rare console = lame. I love making stuff that runs on common things, like my overclocked starfox carts.
Well, I never said make it SGX exclusive, only to make an SGX version that's better for having the extra ram, just as a CD version could be better for having the CD ram. :D
I don't think the TED supports Populous. It doesn't have any ram on it at all, just flash. It's one of the primary limitations.
I could try Mega Man 1 with the CD System Card 1 since I have it on my Turbo Everdrive, I just don't have the CDDA version of the game.
Populous works fine on the Turbo Everdrive for me. Even saved a file into the CD backup RAM. Didn't play for more than a few minutes due to boredom and not remembering how to play the game (or caring).
Sounds like Populous works because of the CD ram. It fails completely on my SGX (no CD) and Turbo Everdrive. You get the HudsonSoft splash screen, and then it crashes to a blank screen and making random noises.
Really? I wonder if we're using the same ROM image. It'd be really interesting if that's the case.

I've run it on my NeoFlash PCE cart where it works fine, but doesn't save. I've tried other games to make sure the TED is working, but that game fails as I mentioned above. Note that it doesn't have the header - I stripped all my PCE games since the NeoFlash software didn't like the headers. So the rom is a straight 512KB size.
Yeah I have no clue which one I have. I rename them all anyway to get rid of that (J) [!] [B] [B2] [B3] [B4657457745] (PD) (UEA) nonsense.
Probably needs a header the ted is a picky device.
I'll dig through and find one with the header. It's my main complaint about the Everdrive series - the menus aren't quite as flexible as they should be... for example, the EDs for the Genesis still have trouble recognizing SMS vs MD vs 32X games, and has particular troubles with save ram on said games. I've seen reports that the save ram doesn't work with my Wolf32X, and I've not only pointed out the source code to KRIKzz, but explained exactly how save ram works on the Genesis/32X, and it STILL doesn't work right. :(
EDIT: Okay, it wasn't the header, it was SGX mode. This is literally the first game I've found that won't work in SGX mode. However, running in PCE mode still doesn't work completely - you get the title screen looking fine, then when it goes to the game, you get multiple segments of randomly falling blocks that fall forever. If I work my way into the game, I get no land, and the screen is still split in multiple segments. It's like it's missing the ram or something. ;)
Nah. Both the Mega Man 2 header and headerless ROMZ run fine on the TED.Quote:

Yeah, it had nothing to do with the header.
There's a number of PAL games that use the undocumented 224 line mode on the SMS2. It's only one rev of the SMS VDP that has the mode, so these games don't work on other SMS models. There's also a few oddball games with a different mapper - I think they were Korean.Quote:

I agree krikzz only gives support for fixing things he feels like fixing. I too posted all over his forum about wold32x not running on the mega everdrive and he seems to not even care. But I put up with his stuff because they do work well, just need better support for more niche things.
