Seasonal Genesis/Retro Love?

Nope. No nostalgic itch here.

Apart from my favourites, which are largely played out, I maintain a pretty regular MD diet thanks to its straightforward and manageable games.

I might break out the Splatterhouse sequels and Castlevania Bloodlines.

As for X-Mas, I usually play Daze Before Christmas for a laugh. James Pond II too.

I'm on an SG-1000 marathon right now. I love those little My Cards. :D

Gawd thats old. I only learned about this console fairly recently about a year ago. Saw it on a gamester81 episode on youtube. Until then i always believed the Master system was Sega's first console.

Funny how the Sega logo has NOT changed a bit in 30 years!

I guess I generalized too much, but you get the gist of what I was saying. I know nostalgia and how it can bring you back to a game to enjoy it, and I agree it is fast fleeting. For me when I was really young I played a lot of DOS games and now looking back at them I get to pick which ones are worth playing. What I originally meant was that with older games on NES and Genesis etc. I never played any of them so I had no preference and picked ones I truly enjoyed. I certainly know that some choose games without nostalgia playing a part because I choose my games this way.

Fall/Winter is always nostalgic for me.

I dont know why but "winter" is the best time to play retro consoles

Seriously you don't know why? During winter it's cold outside so naturally you want to stay indoors and find something to do in the house.

Winter is always the best time to game; nothing like a hot cup of fresh coffee and a few good carts.

Fall/Winter is definitely the time of year I start thinking about replaying my old favorites. I guess it's because when I was growing up the only time I got a new game was Christmas or my birthday.

Edit: I tend to like older games better as well. In addition to classic SEGA I have also been going back and discovering classic PC games I missed back in the day.

I don't think it's seasonal for me as I've always been into the old stuff, but I find that I focus on a different system depending on the time of year. Usually around the fall like right now I'm into a Famicom kick and I think I'll be getting back into Genesis/MD stuff before long.

i didn't play my genesis for about six months. now the desires back and I'm playing through phantasy star 3 and enjoying it quite a bit.

it's not seasonal for me, I play my genesis and other retro systems all year long.
